OP: You do realise that it is extremely uncommon for both partners to die at the same time barring accidents and such?

If anything, it's the obsession with "true love" in fiction that's not healthy.

>_>

Yeah I suppose. I just find it tragic that if Shepard is Liara's true love that he's only going to be around for like, less than a quarter of her life in best case scenario terms. And I also find it more sad now hearing all you guys saying Liara is gonna have many more bondmates after Shepard. Poor Shep. rip

What is sad about that?

I'm not sure how old you are, but lets assume for a moment that you are in your twenties and that you get married. If you had the misfortune of dying young, would you want your twenty-something bride to remain forever alone after you are gone?

Liara moving on eventually dating someone else doesn't mean that she loves Shepard any less, only that she is living her life and isn't wallowing in grief. If Shepard was a healthy, well-adjusted individual, I think he or she would want that for Liara when he or she is gone.

Liara explains this in ME1.  While sad yes, she explains how asari have adopted a world view that lets them enjoy the time with their significant other and not worry about the future.  Now granted this will vary from asari to asari but that is their general view.

And well, since Shep's implants are never really explained, I head cannon that they will drastically increase her life span by several hundred years!

yeh I go with this sort of thing and they both just leave after the war and live out thir lives and maybe help out from the shadows from time to time.

Didn't have a lot of pets growing up, did ya OP...
Theyre gonna die before you, you know that when you get 'em (unless youre the parrot/giant lizard sort) and when they do well...im not opposed to getting another one. And that next, lets say a dog, will hold a special place just as the previous dog I had always will. Really its not something to fear and get all sadpanda about - just one of those things.
Liara will experience, she will love, she will enjoy the time she has with shep, she will mourn, she will cherish and move on, find another lover.

Basically that goldfish saying in a nutshell.

The important thing is the time you spend with the goldfish.

Wise words =)

(Poor little turian in ME2 citadel, I always giggle a little when I hear that conversation.)

you could just lazerous project yourself 10 times and then live as long as liara. every time you die, just whip out a new shepard.

and you cant say thats not impossible.

everything becomes so easy in world filled with space magic!

Why would anyone torture him/herself by not letting go and carrying on? I bet that "space" is filled with other engrosing persons.

Plus, she can always think of Shepard while she does it.

Damn straight.

[If you encourage Joker and EDI's relationship and take the lower left option when talking to EDI in the bar]

Shepard: So... looks like you two are having fun.

EDI: Yes. Joker has been smiling and laughing at a significantly higher rate since he and I agreed upon a relationship. I mean, he is happier.

Shepard: I hope you enjoy it while it lasts.

EDI: It seems unlikely that he would terminate our agreement anytime soon. Or are you referring to untimely death?

Shepard: I was just wishing you well. I guess it's a serious possibility, though.

EDI: Yes. I have not discussed the matter with Jeff, but our life spans are not likely to be the same length. I asked Liara how the asari deal with the problem. She says to bottle up my feelings until the inevitable occurs, then cry. That was a humorous exaggeration. However, she did not provide emotionally supportive answers on disparate longevity.

Shepard: Don't let fear or anticipation ruin it for you.
OR
Shepard: These are dangerous times. Make the most of it.

Image IPB.....now its kind of sad. Never heard that one before.

Well, I'm sure they'll just enjoy the time they have. The same philosophy applies to anyone else really.

I agree. Romancing Liara is kind of a bummer.

Liara is only going to live another thousand years at most. What will my Machine God Shepard do after that? :(

My head canon has machine god shep doing edi's avatar trick and letting their loved ones know they are ok. near the end of the LI's naural lifespan, they find a way to bring their intelligence along with them before they and the reast of the reaper fleet leaves the galaxy.

But if you fry your ass choosing control or synthesis did you really care in the first place? Come to think of it if you romanced anyone and chose those did you really care in the first place? The answer is NO.

Oh, please. If Shepard picks control, the Shepalyst can simply harvest the asari and put Liara's disembodied mind and personality in charge. Or, harvest just her and make a teeny-tiny little Reaperling. Up yer butt, blue babies.

Are you... Did oyu just even pitch the idea of Liara becoming a Reaper!?
 GET OUT OF HERE

Why turn Liara into a Reaper? Why not have Liara when she is near the end of her life upload herself like Shepard did and they could rule the galaxy together? :wizard::wub:

But is it really?

If Shepard chooses control and is the Big Benevolent Machine God, couldn't he just find a method to clone himself?  Then he could then 'Assume Direct Control' and chill out with Liara when he needs a break from doing galaxy police stuff.
