Why I can no longer play ME3 multiplayer with a mic (because of unfriendly players)

So today to prepare for reckoning I decided to get into some Multiplayer matches to farm credits whilst using a mic for better communication and such in gold. I didn't say anything in the lobby because I wasn't really paying attention, but as soon as the game started and I began to communicate problems began to occur.

You see I'm gay and I have a minor lisp. It's not like it's even really noticeable, I'm not loud or obnoxious when speaking, I don't sound like a Woman. Just some words I say end up coming out a little gay, you'd have to be listening pretty intently to even notice. But these douchebags noticed, halfway into the match I said I'd need help with the escort, I noticed that nobody was coming to help me, thinking that they hadn't heard me I repeated myself. The response I got back was "We don't help ****s" followed by laughter and jeering from the two other people.

I just kind of shrugged it off, they were just friends being jerks or whatever. I could probably solo the escort too so I just let it slide. Unfortunately I failed to see two Geth Hunters and was quickly taken down, As soon as I went down the people in the match began to insult me further using derogatory terms. I got pretty fed up so I began to retaliate and things escalated from there.

I ultimately decided to leave the match because it was 3 friends against me and I didn't want to be verbally abused any longer. The worst part about this? I'm hardly surprised that this happened, because it has happened before. As such I've decided to solve the problem simply by no longer using a mic.

So yeah, that was my day, how are you?

You on PC? If so, add Reavestep on Origin (that's me!).

It really does suck that there are jerks like that, but alas, this is the internet, and this is the state of the general MP playerbase (MP in general, not ME3-specific).

Don't let it spoil your day, jerks will be jerks, at least you're better than that.

Normally I'd troll them by flirting, but 3 against one is hard.

I've, surprisingly, never come across any jerks during my time playing the ME3 Multiplayer, and I've been playing since launch. However, I've heard many stories like this of harassment, and it really does make me sad that people can be so immature. It's just a game, people play it to have fun, I hate when others try and ruin that by being rude.

Then again, another reason why I might not have come across such people is because I mostly play with people from BSN or Gamefaqs now, and everyone is pretty friendly. I hope you find some nice friends to play with OP.

you can turn down all voice volume by simply going to preferences and turning it to 0.
then you hear nothing.

But if I do that I can't hear people call out if they need help or such. Or do you just mean for that match?

For once it's not Xbox Live? I'll be damned...

You shouldn't give up on communication. Those guys were unquestionably ****ty, but there are tons of decent people out there, maybe feeling the same way you are now. BSN is a great place to find good teammates. It'll make for a good starting point in building a friends list full of decent human beings.

i use it on assassin's creed because the only communicating people do is wigging out when they get killed.
if someone has exterior noise on me3 and i dont feel like going through the whole process of muting them ill just shut it off for that game, with it being in the xbox preferences it takes all of 10 seconds to adjust.

its alot easier than muting people individually if something is getting on your nerves.

I would turn on my voice mod from my soundcard software and set it to munchkin mode then start rambling on like someone on crack. That would irritate the crap out of them while I preceded to grief em.

No it is xbox live.  I got a free version of ME3 for the xbox and I use that for multiplayer because there is a larger playerbase than the pS3.

I wasn't really upset, I'm not from the most tolerant place around, I'm used to this sort of crap. I'm just disappointed it continues to haunt me in my sanctuary, which are videogames.

I feel as though the term douche bag fits them well.

If you need more people to play with I have some room on my friends list
still. Playing with pugs can frustrating for many reasons. No reason
for a BSNer to go without teammates.

BACON4BREAKFAST

Play gold/platinum or glacier speedruns.

*Ah I thought you were PC. I don't play the xbox version anymore :/

Sometimes finding decent people to play with can be a bit hard. Joining groups here at BSN helps too since most are pretty good people. If you decide to come play multiplayer on the PS3, add me. I could use some friends to farm some credits with for the DLC.

Thank you for the offers guys, but I think I'll take a break for a bit. Get the sour taste out of my mouth and such. I'll try to remember and come back here to add all those who offered.

I only get that bull**** in CoD. I know some people who say 'that's gay', but they don't mean it offensively (still gets on my nerves though).

Add me sometime. You won't have to worry about that. :)
