Normally I'd troll them by flirting, but 3 against one is hard.

That would certainly NOT help your cause. Some people are just jerks, don't lower yourself.

On a somewhat related note, why is it that gay guys talk with a lisp? I never quite understood that.

I don't know, it's involuntary.  It is no different than blinking too me, although mine is pretty minor, if I think about the words before I say them I can eliminate it completely. But in normal conversation or calling things out during games it just happens.

I think some of it may be socially influenced, In the college I went too I hanged around some pretty feminine guys and their speech tones and patterns rubbed off on me a bit.  I do feel however that in a few years it will probably continue to lessen for me.

Also as far as I'm aware the majority don't talk like this.

I play on PS3, and I plug my headset in and set it down next to me just so I don't have to hear the voices coming out of my TV. Never actually had a bad experience but most of the time I just don't want to hear people talk.

Those guys are clearly not living a fulfilling life, just shrug it off. That type of behavior says a lot more about them than it does about you.

Thank you for the offers guys, but I think I'll take a break for a bit. Get the sour taste out of my mouth and such. I'll try to remember and come back here to add all those who offered.

Hope this won't ruin your gaming experience for good. There are a lot of jerks around. :/

I like the suggestion of having some really irritating music handy that you can pipe--loudly!--thru your mic for the rest of the match if that ever happens again. Maybe download some polka or opera specially for that purpose. :D

"You may violate the Terms of Service if, as determined by EA in its sole discretion, you:

- Organize, effectuate or participate in any activity, group, guild that is harmful, abusive, hateful, racially, ethnically, religiously or otherwise offensive, obscene, threatening, bullying, vulgar, sexually explicit, defamatory, infringing, invasive of personal privacy or publicity rights, encourages conduct that would violate a law or in a reasonable person's view, objectionable and/or inappropriate.  Hate speech is not tolerated."

I believe what happened to you falls under that category (most notably the emphasized). But you really shouldn't argue with them. Next time, just remain calm and quiet, record their names, and block them. I also recommend letting EA know about them and letting them handle it how they see fit. If Xbox Live has a similar Code of Conduct in their Terms of Service, let them know, as well. Even if nothing's really done about it immediately, they'll know that there's been problems with those players.

I'm really sorry that you've had such an experience, though. That kind of attitude is never okay to have and it's deplorable that people act that way to begin with. If you ever need pleasant folk to play with on PSN, though, message me and we can swap usernames.

Why didn't you just turn the headphone volume down and finish the match?

@Blind2society: It is term for "settling for a state of ignorance"... ya know like that group we all knew in high school who were ok with just being bullies/gangster-wannabes/corrupt security guards. People who, usually by default(upbringing) are unaware that they(and by extention, the human race) are capable of great things through sheer force of will. People who accept being dumb and view racism/sexism/hatred as the gospel. Believe it or not, they are out there. In droves...

Oh, I'm aware. Just thought it strange that you use the term to refer to the less desirable humans as my mother does.;)

What people don't realise: Religion is a lifestyle choice, sexual orientation is a part of who you are, and immutable.

Most of this bollocks is of quasi-religious motivations anyhow, just ignorance of what the term "all-loving" would actually mean. But it's true that it's not their fault that hatred as raised into them. I'm sure they can be taught common sense eventually...

That said, we'll bang, OK? :P

You did it wrong. Next time play dumb, realy dumb. Run around, wait for the last shot and kill steal all enemies; if someone fall, run and "almost" revive the guy like 5x, saying "oops... sorry!"; ask a lot of dumb questions and if you are the last survivor, don´t shoot your enemies, just keep running for 20 minutes until the guys leave the lobby.

Being gay doesn't make you sound like a girl. Not passing puberty is another thing.

Ugh. On behalf of the morons on my native xbox live, I apologize Eterna5.

People like this are the reason I never use a mic in public games. The amount of idiocy you get outweighs the benefits of a communicating team.

You did the right thing standing up to them, but as you said it's hard to deal with ****s by yourself. Any fight where you are outnumbered is tough. The problem is that after you've said your piece and showed that you will not tolerate discriminatory behavior, you should mute them (or create an XBL party to escape to by switching channels). They want to feel big and powerful, so you can't give them the time of day (like not feeding a troll); point out their problems and then let that sink in and make them mad while you don't have to hear them and enjoy your game.

Sadly, you can not fix stupid, but maybe you'll show them that it's not okay & you won't be their whipping boy for their own personal problems. Make sure to file complaints against them.

You seem like a mature and cool enough individual, OP. Don't let them get to you, they don't even know anything; their words hold no weight.

That sucks, OP. I'm sorry you had to hear that ish. I wish there was a way to filter out bigots before they speak. It's been forever since I've used my mic...and if there are other people talking ish I usually leave.

most of the time the players I've run into are just fine. I think I've run into guys like you described 3 times in the last year. They are annoying but are fortunately few and far between, at least thats been my experience on pc. Wouldn't let them discourage you too much.
