Why I can no longer play ME3 multiplayer with a mic (because of unfriendly players)

You're probably not going to like this, but take this as gospel from an older guy. The world is an unfriendly place and full of jerks of all kinds. You need to grow a thick skin and let insults bounce off of you.

And never forget that insults are the product of a simple mind incapable of intelligent or complex thought. You should feel sorry for them, they'll probably never be smarter than they are now.

Someone was making fun of my Xbox live gamertag in a match once and he said "It should be weep, not wept" and his friends started cracking up. After that, I corrected him by saying: "Wept is past tense of weep...". He didn't say a word the rest of the match and his buddies didn't either, rofl!

Same deal happens to me but I'm not gay. My solution was to also stop using a mic unless the people are nice.

If you're on XBL my Gamertag is ofarrell4

I understand that you may not feel inclined to do so, but people like that should really be reported IMO. Anyway, when you're ready to jump back into the game, there are plenty of us here for you. My GT is same as screen name here.

To add... PUGs are bad enough as it is, especially on Xbox, both as far as abilities and mic etiquette go. That's why I think reporting can only help if anything at all.

Just to say, no-one sounds gay. People can be camp whether they're gay or not. It has nothing to do with orientation. It's quite a stereotype that some take offence to, whether straight or gay.

Regardless, those guys were obviously idiots.

Actually there was a study released in the past 2 years that found that in fact there is a gay accent (not sure if it would be called something more specific vs "accent"). The study was small but unerring. Doesn't mean that everyone that IS gay speaks like that- just like not all Texans sound like they're straight out of Dallas.

Either way, Eterna, I'm sorry this happened to you. I've actually had (only a couple thankfully!) bad reactions to my female voice over the mic and it's a wretched experience. My feelings get hurt to know that someone could just hate me for no other reason that I'm a woman- or whatever- when we've never met or had any experiences to validate their prejudices. It's hard not to feel badly when you encounter such hateful behavior aimed personally at you- but of course- it's best for us to walk away knowing that this is really an issue with them not us.

I hope it doesn't dissaude you completely from playing the game- and hopefully you develop a friends list that can hang out with you and play normally vs focusing on such an arbitrary thing.

Don't know which platform you play on but you can add me if you like :D I talk a lot in private parties lol

OP I don't even know you and I would bet a lot that your voice is more appealing to listen to than mine.

There will always be disagreeable people wherever you go. If you don't like the group you are in just leave the game and start another. Also try to make friends and play with them. Hope you find some decent people to play with.

1) you need a better definition of friends...
if its not the normal chiding in which they are simply pulling your leg.. then simply don't play with them.

2) even though you said that its a minor lisp, some people find it funny... simple as that.

3) if those idiots thought it was funny to watch you complete the objective alone while they simply stayed back and laugh, not to revive you or give you better cover fire, then you need to find others to play with or simply pug it all the way

4) the internet is filled with blithering idiots with the mentality of minors who were bulled in school and won't do it to your face because of their pathetic lives as cowards... **** them.

5) no one gives a **** if you are gay... and if they do, follow the rest of these points and enjoy your life more than they do theirs.

OP, what you need to do is report those jerks.

That's dispicable behavior from those people and they should be punished for it. They are fools and should be Krogan-Hammered to a bloody pulp.
(I'd have said 'they should be eaten' [a la Urdnot Wrex], but they'd probably cause indigestion.)

Oh well, here goes:

Spoken like a true ekbawks persona.

No wonder everyone putting us down as the lowest form of existence in the entire gaming spectrum.

OP, sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Take a break and then come back to the game, WITH your mic.
My tag is in signature.

I wish i had more talking going on when i play, almost every PUG i play is dead silent

mine too. I dont usually bother saying anything if no one else is, until there is something that needs saying, like warning about turrets, or telling someone who's dying to not medigel because i am going to revive them etc, and no one ever turns on  a mic at that point.

Wow, Eterna. That sucks. :c

I've been lucky so far; I haven't heard a single "****** or GTFO" or "get back in the kitchen" yet. I know our opinions on ME3's single-player kind of clash, but I'd happily play with you. It sucks to be treated like that, and you don't deserve it.

If, however, you aren't interested in playing a match with me, feel free to slip me the screen names of those douchebags under the rug. I will avenge you, brave warrior.

EDIT: shucks darn you're on xbox.  Oh well.  Still though, I feel for ya, bro.

So today to prepare for reckoning I decided to get into some Multiplayer matches to farm credits whilst using a mic for better communication and such in gold. I didn't say anything in the lobby because I wasn't really paying attention, but as soon as the game started and I began to communicate problems began to occur.

You see I'm gay and I have a minor lisp. It's not like it's even really noticeable, I'm not loud or obnoxious when speaking, I don't sound like a Woman. Just some words I say end up coming out a little gay, you'd have to be listening pretty intently to even notice. But these douchebags noticed, halfway into the match I said I'd need help with the escort, I noticed that nobody was coming to help me, thinking that they hadn't heard me I repeated myself. The response I got back was "We don't help ****s" followed by laughter and jeering from the two other people.

I just kind of shrugged it off, they were just friends being jerks or whatever. I could probably solo the escort too so I just let it slide. Unfortunately I failed to see two Geth Hunters and was quickly taken down, As soon as I went down the people in the match began to insult me further using derogatory terms. I got pretty fed up so I began to retaliate and things escalated from there.

I ultimately decided to leave the match because it was 3 friends against me and I didn't want to be verbally abused any longer. The worst part about this? I'm hardly surprised that this happened, because it has happened before. As such I've decided to solve the problem simply by no longer using a mic.

So yeah, that was my day, how are you?

:/ That sucks Eterna5, I don't mind playing with random people, but if they're rude, really mean or uncomfortably creepy, I usually don't bother and just leave!
We play this game to have fun, it's no fun if your being personally attacked, especially if its 3 on 1.
It's also the reason I don't use a mic when I'm not with friends. It gets too uncomfortable!Posted Image

I'm on xbox live and yeah, some people can be douches for sure. I don't play with a mic because it seems to encourage some people to troll.

There are many douchebags on Xbox Live, and being gay is something that is apparently hilarious to them. You can always file a complaint and then "avoid" that player in the XBL menu. Unsporting conduct and verbally abusive sounds about right. I've come across some really nice people on ME3, so keep trying. You'll find some decent, more mature people on there. I play on Xbox as well, feel free to add me if you'd like. GT is my username.

Anyone who's being stupid/prejudice on the mic in my lobby get's a marathon session of Lil B and anime music for the rest of the match. Yet rarely anyone talks in public matches.

I feel for you though OP, it sucks to hear that.
