It's amusing making beardless dwarves for forum purposes, but is this really consistent with Thedas lore?  I don't think it was in Stolen Throne, but perhaps it was talked about somewhere else.

Also, does anyone have a list of what hair color, etc your relatives (if any) are in each of the origins?  All I know is that dwarf commoner is redheaded.

Dwarves are not required to have beards, but I think most noble dwarves do have them.

Dalish have step-parents I think, so you're good for whatever you like.

I think the City Elf's father had dirty blond or brown hair.

Mage, you can do whatever you want because you don't know your family.

Human Noble was light to dark brown.

Dwarf commoner, sister was a redhead.

Dwarf Noble.. dark brown? I don't remember this one.

Regardless you can just pretend you got the gene from someone else in the family, or the bastard child of that wandering mercenary from Rivain.

Dwarf Noble was very dark brown or black.<br />
City Elf's cousin I believe had dirty blonde, not sure if that's too important.

Edit: While genetics are strange things, I believe that polygamy is acceptable to the Dwarves, and if you don't meet your mother, it's possible you may look rather different from your brother(s).

Additionally, your sister's (Dwarf Commoner) hair colour may be a very good dye or a recessive gene snuck in. You're free to act as you please there, I think.

Also, it probably wouldn't be too hard to program in a 'lookalike' system, similar to your father in Fallout 3. Your hair color, eye color, and skin tone will probably carry over to your relatives, if not even more of the facial construction.

Thanks for the info! I realize you can do the above, but constraints on creativity sometimes help.

Are face-morph settings alterable by scripting, though? Not sure if the engine allows that.

I understand, I generally try to get it in the same ballpark as the family, too.

Well, actually it was mentioned several moons ago that your family's visuals will automatically adjust to your character to make them look plausible.

Give me a moment and I may find a link to the forum post(s).

Actually, it was said that this was not the case.

Quotations, people, they prove everything.

The human noble's brother and father have brown eyes and hair (the father's hair is gray but the beard is still brown). The mother's eyes look a bit paler. Her hair is gray already too.

The dwarf noble's brothers have rather fair hair, actually, not dark.

I'll go with a darker coloring for the human noble -- my avatar is a work-in-progress of her, just need to tweak the nose and decide on a hairdo -- and a fairer for the dwarven noble. With the mage and Dalish, anything goes since their families aren't shown anywhere. (As far as we know, that is, and I doubt a mage would meet their long-lost parents in the game.)

Damnit, you're quite right on the fair hair thing. My bad.
Just went and checked the trailer.

damn, you caught me before I actually found a quote. and after reading it it all came back to me. I guess I must have confused it with some other game or taken a prior remark out of proportion. whatever. I actually distinguish my full playthrough characters and my origin-only characters by having the former caucasoid and the latter negroid because I know of the racial settings. =]
