HEYO COMMUNITY!! I recently downloaded DA: Origins UE again because I think this game is much better than Skyrim (no hate mails to my life please Skyrim Lovers!), and personally, I love to break molds. "Molds" being "Your a warrior, you can cast spells, but they will not be effective." Personally, I love to play games such as DA "my own way", by making builds that I believe are interesting to me. As I was looking at the skills, I saw that I could specialize in Blood Mage, Arcane Warrior, Shape Shifter, or Spirit Healer. At first, I thought of a Paladin-like Build with going for heavy armor as a Spirit Healer, but I've forgone this. I hate the idea of going Shape Shifter, too "generic fantasy". What do you guys think of a Blood Mage with a Tank-y build?

A Blood Mage-Arcane Warrior tank is very very effective. Since you'll hardly take any damage being an arcane warrior, casting from HP is safe enough. Also, blood wound is a good aoe dot for drawing aggro.

Yes, arcane + blood mage is the only thing i do, the only thing good enuff for my mediocre timing.
dont miss out on rock armor & flaming weapons, and make magic 42 before spending points
elsewhere, like a few dexterity points for example

Yup, Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage specialities. I would grab alot of sustained abilities and turn on Blood Mage when you encounter a horde of enemies to cast other activated spells. Blood Wound and Virulent Walking Bomb kills everything!!
For bigger bosses, Cone of Cold will freeze any enemy (even the archdemon for about 0.5 sec) and the hexes are really good (death hex will destroy any enemy you put it on). Alot of people say that the Crushing Prison spell is the best, but really why bother? Blood wound does the same thing to the majority of enemies with an AoE.

And lastly, some sustained spells such as shimmering shield will draw on mana slowly while in combat. Instead of consuming a bunch of lyrium potions, attach some gear that will give you mana/stamina regeneration rates in combat. And, since you got the Ultimate Edition, you can get two really awesome spells with the Warden's Keep DLC. Dark Sustenance is one of these spells that will help you regenerate alot of mana for a small portion of health. This is a good spell when you are on the brink of having no mana left, and risking shutting down some of your sustained spells (and trust me, shimmering sheild is not a spell you want dissapearing in the middle of a fight).

As for the rest of the spells, I'll let you be the judge of that. But the spells I mention are going to help alot.
