No the damage output is far too valuable to pass up. The rest of the team should make sure the guy doing the device is fine.

i can vouch for almost all of the teachers listed in the op, they're not just great players, but great guys, as well. if you're even a little bit curious about speed running, don't hesitate to contact them for some games. there are no ridiculous requirements to join, just simply being a decent human being/willing to take advice.
