Yes, it was with the Krogan Vanguard.  Yes, it did involve abusing the hell out of the Reegar and incendiary III.  Yes, I did tank up my character beyond belief.  No, it was not elegant, or fast, or precise.  Yes, I did go against Geth.

But I did it!



Significantly harder than my first Silver solo, though that could have been because of a pressing need to visit the bathroom sometime around Wave 6.

I think Gold may be the limits of my soloing skills, though.  I didn't go down, which I am pleased about, used 2 Ops Packs in total and used all my missiles.  I got Assassination three times in a row(!) for objectives, which certainly helped a lot and I tended to play it cautious, with lots of un-Krogan like hit and run tactics.

Still, I'm very happy with the overall result.

Congrats! I actually just did my first one too. I went acolyte /incendiary ammo on a krogan vanguard against geth on Dagger.

But I did it!

Not bad! I uses a similar setup but with Armor Piercing ammo. However, I got wiped during wave 11 because I ran out of medigels. It took me three attempts before I managed to get extracted.

Doesn't matter what kit/setup you use. Getting it done is an accomplishment in itself.

Did my first recently too, have to say I cheesed it with Ghost and Harrier though, so I am not sure it counts. Reapers/Giant.

I just did my second solo, for the Lone Wolf banner and, I have to say, it was a significantly more painful experience than the first solo, though not much longer. I think the main issue was I chose to play on Giant, which I understand is a popular map for doing solos on, but I'd never personally played it solo before.

Two pizza delivery objectives and one drone. Urgh. The first delivery went so bad, I ended up using an ops pack, a medigel and a missile to complete it. I also suffered being staggered and knocked around a lot more, this time. I understand the Kroguard has some stagger resistance, so now I know why stunlock pisses everyone off so much. I had one little bastard of a bomber stunning me so it was impossible to reload. Argh.

Still, I kept it together, and by Wave 11, I still had two missiles, one medigel (which I needed) and three ops packs. Just enough to get me back to the LZ with 15 seconds to spare.

JustAnother Vanguard, I tried AP ammo with this setup, but it didn't seem to be making a huge difference in terms of damage dealt. Also, I missed my fire explosions Those things were great for taking apart a large cluster of Geth.

Congratulations on the gold run! I haven't even tried it yet - I know I'll just be wasting consumables at this point. Soon though, maybe. It goes without saying that I'm envious of your accomplishment.

Anyone else wish that it paid more credits to solo than it does to play with a full squad? It's a badge of honor to be able to do it, that's for sure, but I can't see doing much after getting Lone Wolf - there's just no payoff after that.

Or am I missing something?

Moral of the story: use the bathroom before attempting a solo, just in case.

No, I think you're right - I don't see myself doing it again now, unless I get way better at the game, and want some easy credits (at the moment, it seems soloing Silver-Geth-Glacier is my most time efficient way of making credits...I can easily fit three games and so 99000 credits or so, into the time it would take me to do one Gold solo for 80000 credits). Also, I can use lower level consumables on Silver solo runs....because, unless I'm levelling up a character, I basically don't use level 1 amps and ammos anyway.

I mostly did it for the banner, to prove to myself that I was good enough, and for the e-peen. Despite all rumours to the contrary, the promised hookers and blow from the devs played no part in my decision to do the solos. None at all.

Kroguard is my favorite "go to" character for PUGs. Just host a game against geth and it doesn't really matter who joins.

Plus it's a good way to stick it to the missile-glitching rocket troopers and their merry band of stunlocketiers

Geth Trooper - Black Widow X - AP IV rounds and wall-hax galore.

Biggest concern was getting disconnected from the servers...
