Personally given how bad the ending was and with a new ME game on it's way that's almost certainly going to be the start of a new series of stories I find it hard to trust that they won't just blow it all again in the finale especially the last 10 minutes.

BW's lack of acknowledgment that there was even a problem with the ending and their reaction to the backlash only makes me even more wary as it seems they actually made that pathetic ending intentionally and actually thought it was good.....I find that exceedingly worrying.

So unless reviews (player reviews) are stellar I shall almost certainly pass.

On the other hand I really enjoyed ME1 and 2 as i'm sure many did.

What do you guys think?

Can BW be trusted with another £100 of your money and another 100+ hours of your time?

Also watch this...does this inspire faith? www.youtube.com/watch just astounding.....

BioWare isn't a hivemind. One individual writer, or a group of writers, might not be the same as those on the next project---just like you can't base every 20th Century Fox science-fiction film to follow on Prometheus. You can, however, base that kind of assumption on Ridley Scott's future endeavors under the Fox banner, especially with Damon Lindelof doing the writing (which, thankfully, he's not).

That said, I'd certainly feel hesitant about an ending's upcoming merits if I saw certain writers on the roster for ME4. BioWare as a collective, however, has assuredly learned a few things about conclusions and their target audience.

Yes. To my point of view it was the episodic nature of mass effect games that hurt it. If me3 was a stand alone game it would have ended better.
As if it was doomed to fail.
See Matrix movies, lost and other media.
DAO had the best ending ever in a videogame. I even liked the cliffhanger of Da2.

I've always been a gameplay first, story second type of person. While ME3's story definitely wasn't very strong, the combat gameplay was great, and I can deal as long as the story isn't completely bad.

That being said, I'm not really going to be too excited about BW's upcoming games. That's not to say I won't buy them if I want to, but there's no hype for me anymore.

I don't really see your logic, nothing about ME3 being linked to the previous games prevented them from writing an ending that wasn't total rubbish.

I could write a more satisfying ending (and i'm no writer), i'm pretty sure anyone with a little imagination could.....that's why I find it so baffling that they could screw it up so so badly.

That is an almost pristine example of a loaded question, though I wouldn't expect that the OP was aware of it.

Do you trust BioWare to give you exactly what you want? Does BioWare trust you to be reasonable and fair-minded? Probably a 'no' on both, I'm guessing. classic impasse.

The ending was pretty garbage though. I'm betting a lot of people who aren't writers could've done a better job.

Hey i'm not trying to say i'm anything special m8, i'm just pointing out that it's so bad almost anyone could have done better......and that I find worrying.

Way to just be insulting and avoid my point though.

I am sure that the Citadel DLC will be another pointless DLC anyway for me Bioware are already dead  and i am sure that most of their fans thinks like me why you gonna ask cos they are too stubborn to fix the destroy ending of course they have another chance if they make sequel with Shepard i am sure that fans will forgive them but they not gonna do it

Can you ever trust anyone to finish a story that you've become invested in in exactly the way you'd want?

But yes, as much as is possible.

I am the complete opposite. I am willing to put up with a lot of gameplay weaknesses and bugs as long as the story is good immersive and the characters interesting and funny.

That being said.....no, I think bioware wont make any games which will suit me anymore. I see a trend starting with DA2 which I don't like, the constant dumbing down of games, more and more cliché stories, day one DLC etc. etc.

They reached their zenith with Kotor/ME1/ME2 (altough even in ME2 there were certain unfortunate "trends" noticable) imho and I am not sure they will ever again make such entertaining games.

Nope.

The only way I`d be interested in another ME game is if Koobismo become lead writer otherwise I`m happy to leave the series at the train wreck Bioware calls Art.

MEHEM and Marauder Shields say hi. It is entirely possible to end a story in a satisfying way without getting absolutely everything perfect. Tacking on the ending from another game without making any effort to knit it into your game is a recipe for disaster, however. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, Youtube the ending for Deus Ex. Or watch the video mashup someone made of their endings: Shepard talking to the computer from Deus Ex. The two games' endings are so nearly identical that the resulting conversation is coherent.)
