I go with fully ranged attacks and nail Flemeth from afar? I know that she stays in that one spot so it seems a little cheesy to bomb from afar.
Flemeth... is it cheese if...

It doesn't really matter what other people think. Personally I think that since they designed the dragon fights with different behavior with no one in melee range, it's acceptable to stay at range.

It would feel more like cheese if she wasn't firebombing you all the time. Honestly I think the fight is harder without anyone in melee range, flame spit is a **** without everyone in full resists gear and/or salves.

Shale with a Fire Crystal.
Fire Spit did around 4 damage to Shale with Heroic Defense on.
=D
I did have to Force Field to stop Shale from dying to the melee attacks though...

That's more a function of Shale being a far better elemental tank than she is a melee tank. Alistair with a dexterity build in superior dragonbone plate required maybe 2 heals and a glyph of warding to tank the entire encounter from melee range at level 17ish for me.

Anyone else get really annoyed watching Shale tank? Constantly getting knocked down and slowly getting back up just ticks me off.

Shale is a support character who can do a bit of everything, it's not intended as a MT

Does it matter? It's a singleplayer campaign.

Shale makes a good main tank

Killed Flemeth using only four melee characters, as I haven't bothered to give Leliana any good gear, my Rogue is dual-wield spec, and that leaves Alistair, Sten and Shale (as Morrigan can't come with you). Three deaths, and my rogue made the killing blow. Damn tough fight with all melee

Indomitable is simply fantastic. That's why I love 2-handers. Sorry, had to say that.

Shale can tank pretty decent. But I agree Soteria, she gets knocked down...a lot...And then decides to just lay down for a couple of seconds and enjoy the sky before getting up. Still, Shale rocks !

Nice thread, I also made a little step-by-step guide to kill Flemeth, I hope you'll like it

You have to raise Shale's will. Otherwise his useless beacuse he can't use any of his ability. I just take him along the deep road for his side quest.

I use shale, leliana with a bow, and wynne and of course there is me. I am a warrior that has a weapon in each hand... i pump out some serious damage and flemeth dies relatively quickly.
