I think you have to go in and warn Anoleis of the arrest before telling Parasini to go in and arrest him.

You can actually kill her? Wow. Didn't know. Damn I was too soft.

I still think that letting David Archer in Cerberus hands is the most insane move you can ever do in ME2. Well after romancing Allers in ME3...

They kill each other, then Shepard can loot the garage pass off Anoleis' corpse.

I don't think I really had a fail playthrough, although the first time I played the ending to ME3 I picked Synthesis by mistake, I didn't understand what each choice did so I walked forward a little too much and he started running towards the green light. Oh and I let Elnora the Eclipse mercenary live in ME2, damn I'm to trusting ;)

Okay, so I'm a long-time lurker but after seeing this I just had to post a reply as I've been meticulously planning a "total rat-bastard" playthrough and I figure why not run it past the community and see how it stacks up.

Basically, "Brannigan Shepard" (named after a certain "distinguished" figure from Futurama) is nothing less than a licentious opportunistic sociopath; in order to make him at all believable, he's going to be a Ruthless Spacer Adept.  The logic being that even though this Shepard is utterly incompetant, he also just happens to be a very powerful biotic (but otherwise has unremarkable tech or combat skills, as adepts do) and that combined with the fact that his family has a long history of military service with his mom still serving it can be inferred that this Shepard got to where he is through nepotism and the (canon) fact that Alliance incentivises Biotics signing up for military service.  For RPing purposes he's also a Renegade for the most part.

As for what I plan to have Brannigan do in the games:
ME1:
-Recruit Garrus early on and encourage his vigilante behavior. Oddly, this makes him becoming Archangel in ME2 make much more sense.
-Recruit Wrex after Virmire, thus avoiding having to justify destroying the Genophage cure or retrieving his family armor.
-Romance Ashley, but also sleep with the Consort on the side.
-Let Kaidan team up with Kirahee's STG squad and leave them all to die on Virmire. Ashley is saved purely because Shepard wants to sleep with her.
-Kill Shiala and the entirety of the Feros colony.
-Kill the Rachni Queen.
-Don't even do "Bring Down the Sky"; as a result, Kate Bowman dies and Balak remains on the loose.
-Don't purchase the Elkoss Combine License, track down the Matriarch's writings, or save Rita's sister but completes Conrad Verner's sidequest with him alive.
-Let the Council die and appoints Udina.

ME2:
-Let Cerberus take Veetor for interrogation.
-Don't upgrade any of the Normandy's offensive or defensive capabilities.
-Do invest in the Med Bay upgrade; Shepard is so selfish that he'll put resources into cosmetic surgury for himself rather than things that have a practical use.
-Let Mordin kill Maelon and destroy the Genophage cure data.
-Let Garrus assassinate Sidonis without any chance for him to explain himself.
-Let Jack kill Aresh, side with her in her arguement with Miranda, then have casual sex with her.
-Don't awaken Grunt at all; this is because per Krogan culture, the worst insult is to be ignored.  This way, Grunt doesn't even get the privilege of a warrior's death in either 2 or 3.
-Betray Samara to Morinth.
-Let Thane's son kill the politician and get away.
-Let Tali be exiled. This still makes her loyal and thus romancable; as such, Shepard wastes no time putting the moves on the young woman who just lost her father and effectively lost her whole extended family and is likely in an emotionally vulnerable state (not to mention this counts as cheating on Ashley...).
-Sell Legion to Cerberus.
-Complete Conrad Verner's sidequest.
-Do not do Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, or Arrival. As a result, David, Feron, a bunch of mercs and an Alliance Squad all die.
-Complete the Suicide Mission with only Tali and Morinth alive. Turn over the Collector Base to Cerberus.
-Recruit Zaeed after the Suicide Mission and leave him to die in the refinery.

ME3:
-Generally avoid accumulating as many war assets as possible.
-Don't allow the Genophage Cure to be dispersed. As a result, Padok Wiks and later Wrex dies by Shepard's hand, thereby loosing all Krogan support for the war.
-Allow the bomb to go off on Tuchanka, making Wrex even more pissed before he dies.
-Save the Rachni Breeder, letting it slaughter the Alliance engineers.
-Because both Kirahee and Thane are dead, Kai Leng will kill the Salarian Counselor.
-Kill Ashley in the Citadel Coup (I find it oddly disappointing that I can't recruit Tali before it, as this prevents me from manipulating events so that she kills Ashley).
-Because Shepard doesn't have the Elkoss Combine license or the Matriarch's Writings, Conrad Verner's disertation will be incomplete and because Rita's sister wasn't saved Conrad himself will be assassinated.
-Meet Balak for the first time and kill him.
-Let Diana Allers on the Normandy and flirt with her during the first interview.
-Reunite with Tali and have Shepard say he wants to continue with their relationship.
-Side with the Geth and let them destroy the Migrant Fleet. Tali kills herself and Shepard doesn't take the Paragon interrupt.
-Right after Rannoch and after the second interview with Diana sleep with her. Then immediately kick her off the ship.
-Let Henry Lawson go on Santuary; Oriana ends up falling to her death to kill him.
-With low war assets and the Collector Base preserved, (Renegade) Control will be the only option. Let the galaxy tremble in fear as the reign of "The Shepard" begins.

Take note that I haven't even started this yet beyond character creation.  I find the idea for this to be both really uncomfortable to do, but also perversely appealing.

How to do a total fail playthrough:

1) Do whatever the hell you want for 99.9% of the series.
2) When you get to the end, pick Refuse.

I think the canon fail ending is playing ME3 to begin with. We all know that the canon playthrough is dying at the end of ME2. :P

problem is that there's NO way Shepard could've predicted they'd kill each other

he just tells Anoleis she's a spy, he could've fled, or fired her, or fed her false information...

or Gianna could've shot him first...

the whole thing sounds like it came out of The Dark Knight

My FailShep didn't even recruit Garrus.
He was in love with Ash, but went to the wrong place and saved Kaidan.
Only Morinth (who becomes a banshe) and Miranda (who then dies in ME3) survive the Suicide Mission.

My Failshep is not evil or anything, I've just planned his choices to be the least competent :)

EDIT: And he's going for Battle ****** in ME3 :)

The funny thing about these sorts of playthroughs I've noticed is that it makes the overall plot of the trilogy (warts and all) much more coherent.  Although this is a great deal due to certain Renegade choices (who says the games favor Paragons?).
Of course Garrus never returned to C-Sec and became a vigilante; Shepard basically said that not caring about rules and doing whatever it took to kill criminals is totally okay!  Of course the new council doesn't trust Shepard; s/he let the old council die! Of course Alliance high command seems incompetant; if Shepard is considered the best humanity has to offer then no wonder they don't seem to know what they're doing! Of course Shepard seems dumb: s/he honestly doesn't know what the heck s/he's doing!

Hell, they even make choosing the endings a lot easier when you can easily spin whatever negatives people attribute to them as being natural consequences of terrible decision making.

My worst playthrough?.... Would have to be ME3 ending... This weird glitch made it so none of my choices mattered at all... Still wondering when the fix is coming. Almost been a year!

I died. You can also add, of course you have parts of the human proto-reaper, Shep didn't blow the Collector base up.
