As you can see from this picture, I have a lot of DLCs in my "registered game content" section.

Image IPB

Not all of it is actually useful: I do not own a console, nor do I own dragon age II, or any of its DLC, yet I have multiple DLCs which are not even "registered" to my account appearing here when they do not need to (or shouldn't).

I have been afflicted (like many others) with the "Redeem or purchase an online pass" issue when attemtping to play ME3 multiplayer. Game worked perfectly yesterday, and it refused to work today, claiming I needed an online pass.

After struggling to find any help on EA's absolutely abominable help centre, I noticed two absolutely laughable things.

Firstly, the Origin (PC program) description for how to redeem an online pass shows how to redeem one.... on xbox. Yup, PC program, the "help section" of which shows you how to fix things in an xbox copy....

What the f...... are these doing in a PC program's help section? Surely this should be reserved for the xbox help section....

So Origin provides a detailed description on how to redeem your online pass if you're an xbox player, but provides no help whatsoever if you are a PC player. This makes no sense, as Origin is a PC program, not an xbox one....:pinched:

And here's some rather hilarious conflicting information, straight from EA's "help" centre:

According to EA's help centre, there is no online pass for PC:
Image IPB

Which really doesn't explain why this article exists, detailing that a PC pass does exist, and giving some USELESS "instructions" on how to dowload one.... which is no help at all and does not fix the issue.

Image IPB

Online pass doesn't exist, but does exist, but doesn't exist, but does....

In conclusion: In the "My Registered Game Content" section of the BSN (y'know, the bit that's linked to your EA / Origin account, which has your registered product code tied to it, proving you purchased a unique copy of ME3, and thus DO have right to access the MP content?) there should be a button for validating one's online pass, or dowloading a new one.

It's not going to happen, and yes, this isn't the right place for this post, but I'm posting it here because BioWare actually give a sh*t, EA don't. Post it on answer HQ and be patronised and receive no help at all, or post it here and maybe, just maybe, something might come of it.

I shouldn't have to go to that length.

If I buy a product I expect it to work... period.

There is no valid reason why something which worked perfectly well yesterday, no longer works today... nothing has changed just "Space magic" courtesy of EA's crusade against used sales / pirated games. DRM at its finest; hurting your legitimate customers who buy new and don't buy preowned or pirate.

I went through the whole mess of the "Purchase/Redeem online code" thing, too many entitlements owing (2x commendation packs on the acc.). Took me about a week and a half to get it sorted, once it was sorted, "From Ashes DLC" wasn't authenticating. So now thats fixed, but for some reason they've given me a "Collectors edition" code, when I needed an "N7 Digital Deluxe" code, so now I get "Collectors Edtion DLC" failure, everything else works though.

Never again Origin.

I had to go through all this shenanigan before. Luckily BroJo got me out of it so I can resume playing Multiplayer. You could try PM-ing him on Monday.

But here's the thing :- I still cannot authorize From Ashes DLC. Apparently that requires another online pass. Which is just stupid and ridiculous.

I feel for you Annomander.

Even though BroJo did help me get back into the game, this does not change the fact that EA's idiotic online DRM is stupid. Beyond stupid.

Therefore, any future EA games that use this & cannot be played via Steam properly..I will not be buying a Digital version or a Digital Deluxe version  or a Collector's Edition of that particular game

I will be getting the TORRENT Edition  Bought to me exclusively by Piratebay

It's sad when a dedicated "help" service is trollier than the BSN.......................

Yeah, I've decided that I will never be purchasing another game that is published by EA.

It's just not worth the hassle of going through Origin, and ending up unable to play a game you paid for because of "Space magic".

Seriously? Wow. I haven't bought any of the SP DLC yet, but now I'm having second thoughts. I don't like my money to go to waste.:crying:

That's sucky Annomander. The redeem pass error seems to be taking us down one by one on PC (hasn't happened to me yet GULP). Alas, I am not the least bit surprised at the EA shenanigans you posted. I agree 100% you shouldn't have to deal with this at all.

For some reason I don't see you as a Twitterer (a Twit?), but from what I've seen it seems like the best way to get EA to deal with this is via their Twitter page - https://twitter.com/AskEASupport . If you don't do Twitter, it's probably worth it to make an account just to take care of this.

OP:
I've never played dragon age, but it and dlc is registered to my account somehow too. Doesn't bother me though. Whatever. As for your issues with connection... Origin is wonderful amusement for us xbox peasants!!! Maybe EA is trying to tell you to come over to our side. We don't have these issues, and the games are tailor made for our platform... not pc. I've never had an issue with any EA game, except for most of them being a waste of time. Don't go to Sony though, their fan base is tiny.

Of course, I can understand why you would want to stick with pc. That Origin is soooo seductive!

Good luck with that. Only 2 more days until new dlc. I'll be enjoying it. Will you...?
