...I hope.
My understanding is that the Qunari have guns. Just, you know, not the man-portable ones. All they have is cannon and grenades. (Which is already quite enough that they'd have conquered Thedas if the Circles hadn't been set on them.)

Finally one thing in origins that bugged me is everyone wore the same fashion the same armour! and that was the case in Dragon age 2 aswell , the tevinter magisters for example just felt like puny circle mages they're attire did not relfect their culture , which is dark , forbiding and cruel in nature and i think that it is important to relfect that in the appearance of the said people's attire.
As you can see Bioware is defiantly heading in the right direction this is so awesome. The human ethnic groups look unique now and they relfect their cultures well. The orlesians are Prideful and highly fashionably and arrogant. The fereldans wear a mix of hardy well crafted armour and clothing relfecting they're hardy and warrior nature. And the Tevinters look really mysterious, Dark and dangerous!, i hope bioware keeps up this trend with the other ethnic groups! and actually brings this sort of relfective attire to the game!.
Oh, man. That's ****ing fantastic. I love those!

But please tone down the "dark and moody" of the Tenvinters... I hate to think them as some "big bad"
Ofcourse not. Just because they were a central part of every holy war in thedas, strong supporter of slavery, and frequently bleed said slaves to use their lifeblood as "feul" for their unholy rituals...
Which I dislike... They were modelled after the Eastern Roman Empire so why should their culture be necessarily evil?
Name a real-life example of an evil, unredeemable culture and I'm not talking about political parties like say the ****s.
Edit: Why the heck are N a z i s bleeped out?
There's no such thing as an unredeemable colture. All that required is the willingness to change.
A thousand years ago the popular belief in medieval time from both christian and muslim sides of the crusades/jihad was that there's nothing wrong with forcibly converting people religion at the end of a sword, because "they were saving their souls". I would consider that evil. Both coltures mostly matured out of that state of mind. There are still people who believe it's justified to kill people who don't share their religious belief, and I still think they are evil. But I don't condemn all of their society because of the individual "evilness".
If tevintar will abolish slavery and blood magic, they would be on equal footing (moraly) as any other thedosian society. They can even keep their oppressive magocracy; it's not better or worse than any form of goverment currently used in thedas (they're all equaly bad). But so long as they continue their current practices, any sensible person can and should consider them "evil".

Tevinter looking stereotypically evil isn't something I'd praise.
It's probably going to be nuanced stereotypical evil. With a subtle cackle.

I don't think the Tevinters in black and white makeup says 'sith', either. Star Wars didn't invent that look, merely adapted it. Lots of cultures have at times used white makeup in formal settings, whether that's to hide smallpox scars like in England or ritually paint central figures according to the culture's color value associations like in Japan. And black fashion is often in style throughout history, so combining one with the other doesn't automatically spell E-V-I-L on your nameplate. It does look very cool, though.
I always saw Thedas as more of a mishmash of different eras anyway. Ferelden's more 15th century English/Scots, but it's also considered a backwater, so it should be less developed in a lot of ways compared to Orlais and Tevinter. Orlais always seemed more 16th century French naval powerish to me, so this is perfect, and Tevinter strikes me more as dark ages 12th or 13th century Byzantine (the Eastern Roman Empire in its later stages), which is an earlier but also more complex society. Byzantine court intrigue was dangerous, deadly, and duplicitous, and the Tevinter outfits exude that, so it's perfect. I don't want everything you see from Tevinter to be the black and white motif, but it's a good place to start.
This is an original fantasy universe, so it should be unique. None of the nations of Thedas should be one to one analogues of their real world inspirations, or any particular real world time and place. I think the basic non-magic physics should be realistic (so no more giant swords, for instance), and the fiction should try to be consistent, but that doesn't mean it should totally conform to any particular real world era.
They look great. :-)

In most circumstances, I suppose I'd have to agree. But damn if Bioware didn't manage to make stereotypically evil the new black this season.
Edit: Or maybe my opinion should be understood in the context of the fact that I'm just now noting the male Tevinter. The rest is cool, but I suppose he could lose the hood, the apron, and the sour expression.

I'ts impractical: Its high fashion obviously. Whatever the age, nobles have always loved their swag. Ever tried wearing a full robe? They trip you up. Not practical in combat either.
I'ts stereotypical: It's one picture, of concept art, not even official. Theres like six people in it.
It's not accurate: This isnt mount and blade.

I knew it would be a matter of time before someone put a clock in a DA game. It REALLY begs the question of the level of technology involved when that stuff starts slipping in.
Dwarves have clockwork per DAO.
Gunpowder was first mentioned in european writings in the middle of 11th century.
Chinese writings describe something gunpowder'ish half a century later.

The Qunari have cannons. And other explosives. They just don't have guns in the sense of muskets and whatnot. Or if they do, they're refining them to be better for their attack on all of Thedas and they're in secret.
Somebody get me the Not Bad image, stat!

Hmmm...I can't remember seeing one. Was it actually in-game or some bit of lore in the Codex that I missed?
It wouldn't surprise me if it was in-game and I totally missed it; clocks, particularly tower clocks and big standing clocks, have been part of the generic fantasy look for a very long time now. For a much longer time (and also more common) than the currently rather prevalent gunpowder weapons even. It's the kind of stuff you don't even consciously notice anymore.

I really don't find these concepts to be that interesting. It looks French, but it doesn't jump out at me like this or this. I really hope Bioware has something a lot stronger to show us in June. I'm far more excited for ESO and Witcher 3.
