Stuff like this makes Cerberus start to seem like a good idea.

The number of playable human characters is at least double that of any other race... triple if you count male/female characters with the same kit.  Amongst those characters are ten different human models, soon to be eleven if what we see here of the Talon is to be believed. 

They probably just decided it would be best not to choose between the large number of human models.  

Though if it were me I'd have gone with the Alliance Soldier, the Demolisher, and a Phoenix.

You mean bottom left. And it looks like that because it's cycling, which is another reason it's not a fake.

No  one's putting a gun to your head and forcing you to do a challenge you don't find interesting.

Considering how many Asari, Krogan, and Turians there are, it'd be kind of silly to award a banner in the same style for playing a race with only two characters. If there were no new Salarians, it would've made more sense to do one for Volus, Batarians, Drell, or hell, even Vorcha instead.
