These answers are always look at the tutorial wiki or they post video tutorials. Both these may help some people, but not for simple minded people like me.
What we need is a written step by step guide that walks us through everything to make a small mod.
I remember that somebody made a brilliant NWN2 toolset tutorial, i think was updated from NWN1, that showed step by step how to make your own external area, 2 internal area's, quests, conversation, and basically everything to make a short mod. The tutorial was very easy to follow and unlike video tutorials was easy to go back and read something to refresh your memory.
I tried to follow the Dragon Age toolset tutorial but it seemed all over the place and is extremely hard to follow and some of the video tutorials are annoying to watch because if you miss something you constantly need to go back a few second and listen again, sometimes multiple times if the sound quality isnt very good.
So if there is a modder out there who would spend the time to make a straight forward step by step tutorial, alot of people would be very happy and grateful.

It is a complicated toolset - you need to put in the time to attempt to learn the ropes yourself.

Do this.
Figure out what you want to do exactly. Then start with the first thing you wrote. If it's an area, then focus on the area part of the tutorial. If it's creatures then focus on creatures, etc.

The information might be available but it is highly fragmented.
As an example:
interiour level creation is barely touched in the wiki and in tutorials on youtube(Dragonage22 or neverwintergirl) you only get the start of a level.
I tried to build my own level and realized that it just doesn't look right (apart from the limited tileset).
Then i opened up an interiour level made by bioware and realized that they used a lot of black boxes to block out cracks between walls where the sky shines through. Corners seem to be a problem unless you block them with pillars
They also used a lot of lights to light a single room where one lightsource should normally be enough.
It is not possible to light a room with just one lightsource, like a fireplace. Depending on the layout there are other lights needed to simulate global illumination.
Sorry for the long comment, but that was one of the things that frustrated me most...
as for finding solutions on your own:
go through the original files and try to get what is going on there.
with specific question and patience you will get answers in the forums...

If you want to learn stuff like modelling and texture editing then those are completely independent of the game and follow fairly universal rules. They have nothing to do with the toolset though, so naturally you aren't going to find tutorials for that sort of thing here.
