I'm a 40 year old gamer and i have followed your software house almost since its start . In my frantic gaming years i always hold Bioware on pedestal , because of the quality titles you released and thank you for the wonderful fantasy journeys you have taken me . Now i play a few games a year and your game titles are an oasis in the gaming wilderness . But sadly year after year i see the orientation of the company going towards to the Pimple-Faced terrors that are comfusing the gamepad with their "joystick" . I know that market is cruel and money must be made , but now there are many grown up gamers that want a different quality in their games. So why don't you make a game for them , for us the veterans. Maybe we are not the vastly consumer crowd , but you know what , we have the money that we would like to spend on a quality game . So with a different strategy a game could be prosperus targeting at our demographic . You could charge the game at higher price and with a different package , old school way like the Ultima Games did. Just a thought

As a 35 year old, I've played many games over the course of my life. The games that enthralled me the most were story driven. They had immersive environments and great characters. Very few of these games exist anymore. Mostly because of the development time and the resources it takes to create such a product. Currently, with companies like EA, the bottom line takes precedent. Simply because gaming is a luxury. It's a hobby that only those with the resources can enjoy.
Yet, as time goes on and the industry as a whole gets more and more attention for violence, the question is beginning to be asked. Will violence themed video games continue to take precedent or will companies begin to look at alternatives? Some companies, like Disney, want to focus more on the casual gamer. Games that you can buy cheap and play on your phone. Yet, this too caters to the largest number of people who can pay. So again, the bottom line.
If a game franchise can be made that is immersive, story driven yet plays to the largest group, then you have a great product. Unfortunately, there is so recipe for that. Wish there was. Then maybe gamers like me can look forward to that product with anticipation of the franchise spanning multiple games. Right now, the only franchise I look forward to the most is The Elder Scrolls.

I'm in my mid-30's and feel the same as both of you. I was such a Bioware fan. But after joining EA, I've seen the quality of Bioware's games dwindle to a mere husk (pun intended) of what they used to be. The last couple Bioware games that I bought came from the bargain bin.

If you're not seeing games you like from big publishers/developers I'd suggest watching Kickstarter projects and looking at some of the smaller gaming developers to see if there's anything there that tickles your fancy. I know I've found a few things that I think are pretty exciting looking titles (Wasteland 2, Project Eternity, Age of Decadence, to name a few) that look like they'll fit the bill.

I agree. I contributed to Project Eternity because I have really liked a lot of Obsidian games, and the footage that I recently saw of Wasteland 2 is getting me pretty excited.
