Next it's gonna be "a stroke from stress". Any argument to spread "he actually died" is good because then it can be used as an ammo to demand new ending in which he lives.

The end is only 10 minutes, however dreadfull it is I like the hours and hours of story and gameplay far more and enjoy it often because I like to play the whole trilogy.

That's the word I've been looking for all this time. I'm frustrated that the game developer's decided to not decide on what happened. The Canon is undecided and warp's depending on the POV of the individual. Whereas if Shepard had been been seen walking towards camera giving a full face shot and then depicted walking away as the camera flip's to show Shepard's back walking off into the sunset........ we would have had over a year's worth of speculation as to how that breath scene signified the continuation, or demise of Shepard.

You mean "would not have had," right?

It's a pity more people didn't express feelings like this before Bio did the EC. Back then the most common post about the breath scene was that it obviously meant that Shepard was alive, and the problem was that you couldn't get the scene without MP or savegame editing.

I feel how Shepard would feel.  Good. Shepard is soldier. His/her  main goal is to defeat the reapers, not live happily ever after.

I'm talking about in-game. Most of the heroes in ME are shown to gladly give their life to accomplish a goal and save others. Mordin, for example, died singing when he cures the genophage, he was content with dieing since his main goal was accomplished.

Mordin was a tragic hero he was expected to die (tragic hero-someone that has made a big misstake & wants redemption)
Shepard is a classic hero big difference

Shepard's fate I'm cool with. How could I not be, being alive and (kinda) well with the Normandy coming for me? The geth's fate sucks balls but that isn't the topic.

Totally fine with how the ending post-EC played out. The trilogy had to end and I think ascension to god-hood was a pretty fine way to do so.

As far as Im concerned his fate sucks!!! Left under a pile of rubble not knowing whether he lives or dies is not the way I envisioned his ending. After a year Im still pissed off about his fate.

At this point, Bioware has washed their hands of the whole thing and has declared that each individual player can decide Shepard's fate. If you don't like what you've conjured up, that problem is yours.

As insulting that is to me on an authorial level (a writer throwing up his hands and saying the audience decides IS a cheap cop-out), I also have no sympathy for the fans who had been screaming "IT'S OUR STORY TOO!!!" then get even MORE pissed off when they're given the prompt and told, "Yep. Here ya go. Make it your story."

Well, this reminds me to get back to writing that score for MEHEM. I wanted Shep to survive and a reunion. It's a work in progress, so we're going to make it look professional. Everything is head canon at this point so I guess it's as valid as anything else.

I feel the Shepard's fate was out of my hands. He was no longer my avatar in the ME'verse, he was the writers and I just got to ride in the backseat. Sometimes it worked out as they went the way I wanted, but somethings *cough*CatalystConversation*cough* *cough*WalkingIntoAnExplosion*cough* was like them driving off a cliff that I saw a mile off and did not want to jump.

Actually, he's asking if it was radiation. Question mark? Not so much a proposition as a request for clarification on a subject.

The further we get away from the original post that prompted this question the worse the misconception's will become.

EC changed bad to pretty good. With the situation clarified I think the end and Shepard's fate is acceptable. I would still like an ending where the refuse ending could lead to a conventional victory but that is only my opinion and apart from that I'm happy with what we got.

Isaac Clarke gets a bad ending too. He kisses Ellie goodbye while he and his dude bro Vega partner blow up a moon falling into a planet. Now they are both floating in space, yay.
