Vanguard all the way. Although I am playing the trilogy one final time now, and I played ME1 as a soldier with added biotic power (unlocked from Vanguard playthroughs). It just feels more like a true Vanguard that way since ME1 Vanguard just doesn't compare.
I also play Vanguard unique. I've only talked to a handful of people that play like me: precision, sniper rifle from afar, SMG for midrange, no short range shotgun if I can help it. With biotics and sniping, most enemies fall quick. If they get midrange, shock wave and SMG will finish them off. If I'm in a bind, I use charge followed by quick shock wave and biotic melee (in ME3) all with zero recharge time between them. If necessary, shockwave has like a one second recharge for me in ME3 maxed out.
Vanguard is a beast. Insanity playthroughs are more or less a cakewalk.

My main was a Sentinel.
My second was an Adept.
I'm working on an Enginner (for it's unique abilities), a Soldier (for the new mechanics introduced in ME2), and an Infiltrator (ME3 only to enjoy the time slowdown mechanic).

Adept is probably my favorite, followed by Infiltrator.
I did soldier and found it boring - played too much like a generic shooter.
Currently doing a Vanguard run and may do a Sentinel one in the future. I love muh biotics.

If I'm playing Sara Shepard biotic classes, usually Vanguard, but sometimes Adept rarely Sentinel.
If I'm playing Nadia Shepard then Soldier.
If I'm playing Rhianna Shepard then Engineer or Inflitrator, usually Engineer.
Rhi was my first character, so Engineer was my first class.
I think Vanguard is my favorite, it fits well with Sara's character and it's fun to play.

Favourite is Adept.
First was Vanguard.
I switched my infiltrator to engineer between 1 & 2 (I'm doing another playthrough with this one right now actually).

I tend to not change classes between games.
Favorites: Engineers, closely followed by Adepts. Honorable mention to Infiltrators and Soldiers, especially in ME2. Sentinels and Vanguards are for people who like things close and personal, which I am not.
