Nah, I get you. The topic frustrates me only because there are a good chunk of fans who have substantially less LI material than Liara and still have a high chance of being ignored in this DLC. Unequal treatment creates hostility.

And I'm fine with, and empathise with, a lot of these people. What bothers me are people like.. hmm.. I don't like to name names, so I'll just say it starts with "S" and rhymes with "lifer" who say things like, "I wish there was an option to drown Liara in her own blood." Which, even as a joke, I think is a bit messed in the head.

For the record, I get what you're saying, but I'm still going to want more, no matter what. I shouldn't have more than one slice of cake after dinner, but goddamn it if I don't want another slice of cake. That's just how brains work.

I hope this isn't directed at me. I want more Liara content/romance content for Liara, I think they should base it on LI your LI gets more content than other NPCs in then DLC. For instance, I romanced Liara, so I should get more content and dialogue with her than other characters. I think it looks like you romanced Miranda, so you should get not content and dialogue with her, and less with other characters

Yes, that is obviously excessive.  When you start to threaten fictional characters is when you need to put the game down and detach yourself.  That's beyond jealously from unequal treatment.  And again, I am a Liara fan, so it bothers me too.

Everything I've said is directed to this forum in general, not anyone in specific.  Haha, unfortunately that solution would make far too much sense for Bioware to actually utilize.  It wouldn't have even been that difficult to please all fans from the get-go - as if cutting two romances and shafting Miranda and Jack's was something they honestly assumed would go down well?  "Equal LI consideration" is not a difficult concept.... thats all anyone has ever really wanted.  (And for the record, my Femshep stays single:innocent: )

@radishson

Sorry I'm on my phone and can quote, it's to long lol. But yeah I agree, making threats about a fictional character is a bit excessive. But ill have to admit, I teared up a little when I brought Liara on Priority: Earth. The scene when the Normandy was picking her roasted ass up was touching.

You act like she comes up to your room ten times. She coems to oyur room, twice and even ask to come inside. It's also mission related. First visit is about the cruible and that the turian councilor is not budging til you get the primarch. Second visit is her telling oyu Velarn needs to speak to you at the com, all important and non personal, unless you want it to and talk to her about oyur state of health. You do not need to do that.

. I don't want her in there at all personally.  Hell I didnt want her on my ship.

I didn't want half of the ME2 squadmates on my ship, deal with it.

Good point. I'm a big fan of Jack but I still can't reconcile paragon Shepard:

1 ) Going to a prison to buy out a criminal for the squad.
2 ) Letting her out at the cost of causing total anarchy, without even seeming to give a damn about it.

If I had the choice I'd probably have done some playthroughs where I didn't recruit her at all (and others where I put my fingers in my ears and sang la la la whilst Shepard hits the release button)

. You never need to speak to them or do their loyalty missions or generally associate with them.  I don't get that luxury with Liara

That's not true for Miranda and Jacob, there's places you can't avoid interacting with them, even after you get the Normandy. Every time you get a new squadmate you have a Normandy scene that includes one of them. And most Normandy cutsenses relating to the main mission involve them too.

I actively tried to avoid Jacob as much as possible in my last ME2 playthrough and I really noticed how much he turned up.

Guess what?

1. Having characters with different amounts of screentime is perfectly acceptable storytelling, writing, and game design, and not indicative of any kind of mistake.

2. Having conversations and other content with characters that can't be skipped is perfectly acceptable storytelling, writing, and game design, and not indicative of any kind of mistake. It's not 'plot armor,' 'railroading,' or any other term of the sort.

3. All stories have characters, and you won't like every character in every story. Period. That doesn't change in a video game, including video games with choices. There's really nothing writers can do to avoid that.

4. The more of an effect characters have on the story and other characters, the more mandatory content they're going to have. That's really the end of it. Liara, Miranda, and EDI have a considerable role in the story, so they have lots of content that can't be avoided. Other characters can be avoided entirely. So if you think squadmates should be killable or you should be able to kick any squadmate off the ship at any time, fine. But don't whine that squadmates are kept seperate from the story. Likewise, if you want squadmates to play a strong role in the story and with each other, great. But don't complain that characters are 'shoved down your throat.'

I played femShep. If I saved Ashley and romanced Jacob or Thane in ME2, what are my choices in ME3 for a hetero relationship?

Guys, quit complaining. At least you had some.

I just want to know if I get to kick Jacob in the balls and shoot him in the foot in the DLC if he was my ME2 LI.

Out of interest Liaramancers, did any of you try an ME3 playthrough without a Liara romance and find some of her scenes working out better without the romance?

I never took to the character until ME3, where she became somewhat awesome. I tried out her romance in a subsequent playthrough and found that (IMO) a lot of her scenes were better when she was just a friend.

The time capsule scene - the way Shepard invites her in feels "suggestive", but after that it turns completely friend zone. I thought the emotive power of the scene worked better with her as a friend that respects and admires Shepard, rather than as a girlfriend.

The "date" - I can't remember how this goes if you're in a long-term relationship, but if you activate the relationship from scratch here the scene is really crappy. It's the most dispassionate start to a relationship ever!

The goodbye - Whilst it works out well either way, for me the romance version suffered from the "arkward computer models kissing" issue. But if you're friends Liara gives Shepard a cuddle that is really sweet and is modelled very naturally.

The final cabin scene for the Liara romance is excellent though, the best of all of them I think.

more Liara pls! she already has 2 mass effect comics, the best being Mass effect: redemption. Eternally solidifying her role as someone Significant in Shepard's life regardless if she was your LI or not.
It was not Garrus, Tali, Ashley, Kaiden or Wrex that recovered shepard's body from the pirate/collectors. Liara showed True Love when she recovered sheps body and not the love that comes from between ur legs.

My Shep was a complete a**hole to her in ME1....:crying:....and she still has his Armor on display.......I wouldn't call that love....I find it highly disturbing myself....

How you treated your companions in ME1 is not imported for anyone except for Garrus (Paragon - went back to c-sec. Renegade - reapplied for spectre training). So you cannot honestly be surprised ME2 doesn't recognize you having been a d*ck to Liara in ME1.

I would have thought leaving her to hang for a good number of months whilst i did all the side quests, picked her up last so that she though i wasn't real, would have been telling that my shepard wasn't interested.

But nooooo, knew each other two days and suddenly BFFs forever....

I've heard this before. Actually haven't imported my Liara-FemShep yet, was going to do it some time ago but then there was still the bug which made her forget the previous connection made in LotSB. Will be interesting to see how it plays out when I do that PT. Liara has always been on my of FemShep's best friends so for me it has always felt natural, of course I see my friends often and talk to them. The Citadel date with Kaidan and Garrus were pure awesome for my FemShep's, the conversation with Liara was more sweet, will be fun to see how the difference between friend and LI plays out. Guess that I'm lucky in the way that Liara is one of my favorite characters so I am very happy to have her back on the ship. Missed her quite a bit in ME2. Oh well, different people like different companions.

Ugh, I hate this scene so very, very much.

Basically even if you romanced her in ME1, romanced her in LotSB, and continued it into ME3, she still gives you the option to become friends.

To say it was jarring to randomly have your LI three quarters of the way through the final game declare that she enjoys just hanging out as friends, is a bit of an understatment.

Shep's response is about as annoying. 'Friends isn't going to cut it anymore'. What the hell do you mean 'anymore'? You haven't been just friends for three years, idiots.

What made it all worse was how Kaidan tells Shepard he's madly in love with her completely out of the blue, and actually acts dissapointed if you say know. Yeah, the guy I never contemplated romancing and rengaded a whole lot throughout the third game for being a jackass, shows more emotion than Liara does after romancing her for three games.

Vent over.

Wow I can't belive there are so many Liara haters, I like/tolerate all the crew, the only thing I hate about mass effect are the endings, and perhaps the mako.Your hatred is worse than my friend decision to reject Liara for Diana Allers .
So all the characters should get equal content.

It's not about hating Liara, but, rather, pissing off Liara fans.  I mean, my Sheps wouldn't f_ck Jack with a stolen dick, but I have better things to do than bother Jack fans with sophomoric trolling.

They should also add the zoom in option from LOTSB. :innocent:
