I had a thought a while back that the "Combat" category of powers lacked group synergy. This thought prompted me to suggest in a thread about Combat class squad synergy that some Combat powers should set up a combo called a Critical or Ruthless Strike. The idea behind it is similar to Arc Grenade's DoT perk, so that Combat powers that can be spec'd for DoT or innately inflict DoTs like Concussive Shot, Frag Grenade, and Ballistic Blades would set up this combo, with the in-universe rationale being that the detonating power is violently aggravating the shrapnel in the target's body, ripping open wounds and structural weaknesses further.

With the Advent of the Cabal, who has two poison DoT powers, the idea occurred to me again. I thought it was a shame that the Cabal had no personal combo ability and that her allies cannot do anything more with those poisoned enemies besides kill them a bit faster. I'm sure the Cabal Vanguard will be a dynamite gal, as I am already loving what I've seen of her in the livestream.

As to what Critical Strike would actually do, I really did not get quite that far, but I think the best bet to make it unique would be to make it a purely single-target combo that deals a big chunk of direct damage to the victim and ensures a stagger on even the most durable of foes. Because, after all, the victim is being ripped apart. Even a banshee should feel that and drop her sync-kill date as she reels from the blow. Adding a unique power combo that Poison effects can apply would also give a reason to have Polonium Rounds make a return, allowing non-Combats to get in on the critical hit action.

Obviously, all hope of this changing this late in the game is dead and gone. But, the idea remains, and I wonder what you guys think of it. The possibility to diversify the ME4 multiplayer experience with Critical Strikes and Polonium Rounds does exist. Thoughts?
