2. let his crew protect him whilst he is disabling / hacking the beam to shut it off
3. cut-scene Crucible is moving into place and is firing its energy towards the Reapers
4. the Crucible was built to destroy the Reapers - only the Reapers will be affected
5. happy ending for all of us and BioWare

this.
and I hope in the meantime for ME(4) they study writing. even if I doubt I will ever buy it. But for the people who liked the endings and those who wish to give another chance to the band.

@GiarkYekrub You think so? Take a look to the deus ex and asimov's edge of foundation novel endings.
Tell me later.

Personally i think everything after Shepard got shot down in front of the beam should be ignored as it was obviously not intended.
The one instance where i realized this was really true: TIM tries to convince you that controlling the reapers is the best option. You then choose a paragon(!!!!) interrupt to convince him that this is not the case and to shoot himself. The control option is then offered as the paragon (blue) option? Someone obviously hasn't through through the ending, let alone the deus ex machina of the catalyst springing into existence at the last second. Even inexperienced amateur writers know not to do this - You don't introduce entirely new plot elements on the last page of the story, since it belittles the reader and makes the preceeding story feel pointless.
And still, you make peace between the Geth and Quarians, and even AFTER that, while the reapers are being bombarded by a combined Quarian/Geth fleet, they still maintain that "synthetics and organics can never live together".
I can continue, but there's more than enough evidence to suggest that the current ending was never intended. I for one refuse to believe that the people who wrote Mordin's last scenes are the same ones who wrote the overall, horrible ending... Really feels like a producer stepped in at the last second to make sure there's room for a sequel, not realizing that he sullies Bioware's name in the process, if DA2 hasn't done that already.
And this rant made me realize that EA is turning back into their 90's incarnation: Buy up famous studios, milk their franchises and then discard them. Mark my words, Bioware will be dissolved within the next 2 years after DA3 turns out to be a massive flop and the new ME game gets cancelled.

True, it was what I wanted and I felt it was logical. I didn't not expect it, I thought it would be a generic red ending, thinking back I should of expected the choice which I think is genius certainly linking the fate of the Geth & EDI with the Reapers was a master stroke IMO. The fact people still debate and argue over which choice is preferable show how well it resonated.

This is without question, my favorite BSN post since the ending fiasco started.
Bravo..good sir....bravo.
For those of you who don't get it. Just lookup Stephen King's "Misery." I've never made the parallel in my mind before now, but now I won't be able to forget it.

You can have depressing ending as much you want Casey- even so much that Edgar Alan Poe would blush, but fix your narrative....
