Hi!

I'm using a script to continuously spawn enemies into an area. They are all darkspawn from the _Core_Creatures category (ogre_boss.utc for example).

They are real pushovers, however, and drop very little treasure. If I spawn an Ogre Alpha, he grabs my lvl 21 main character and hits him for 1 hp damage, and upon death drops about 5 silver.

It seems to me that they aren't leveled correctly. Is there something that I'm missing, or some way to make them a challenging level?

Ciao, muh!

On the creature sheet what is the min and max level you have the creature set at? Also what is their rank?

Hah, figured it out.

My area had no entry in the areadata.gda table. When a creature is spawned and levels itself, it checks the current area's min and max level, and the hero's level. If the area has no entry in the areadata table, it defaults to level 1.

I added my area in a m2da, and it works fine now.

FYI, the min and max level on the character sheet do nothing. The min and max levels are set in the APR_base table, and as the OP said, you also need an entry in the areadata table for your area(s).

The Rank on the character does work.

You can also set the local variable MIN_LEVE on your creatures.

Jup, saw that while digging through the scaling code.

A bit funny that this "custom" variable is checked and respected, but the Min and Max Level fields are pretty much ignored altogether :)
