If Bioware were to chose a "canon" ending, which one would it be?

I have been wondering. I seriously doubt that Bioware will go with games recognizing our choices thought the whole saga. The branching would simply be impossible to represent. So I think sooner or later they will have to chose a "canon" ending.

Personally I think the best one for that purpose is alistair/anora married, dark pact accepted, warden alive. Why? Because i think Morrigan's son will indeed play a role in the next dragon age games. I'm almost led to believe he, or she, will be the main character of Dragon Age 2 or 3.

What do you think? :D

Anora rules, Loghain lives, you die.

Since that is probably the least popular one.

Alistair and Anora rule, you spare Loghain who becomes the Grey Warden recruiter, and you refuse the dark ritual and make the ultimate sacrifice... kinda falls into place with the idea of sacrifice and redemption.

Heh.

Anyway, if they absolutely had to create some kind of canon ending the most likely I suspect would be Alistair and Anora/Dark Promise.

Of course, Bioware would never do such a thing but if they had to I suppose that'd be the easiest to springboard from.

Seeing the Awakening trailer sorta convinced me they are going the "canon ending" route and it seems to be the Alistair king - PC military commander route, which means you availed of the Dark Ritual. Reading the IGN interview with Fernando Melo threw me for a loop because he said something about the player's choices in the original game having some effect on stuff that happens in the sequel, but I think he might have meant all the choices that didn't have to do with the ending.

Don't worry about that. They said that the trailer used only one possible "beginning" simply because there was no way to make a trailer that made sense considering all the ending variations :D

I'm nore thinking about the next full game actually.

Oh, absolutely Dark Ritual. I think it matters less who is ruler, though the joint is best from a storytelling point of view.

I'd take the Dark Ritual as canon, since, let's be honest, this opens up _by far_ the most interesting choices for the story, regarding any future expansions or sequels.

Hmmm... "Impossible", you say?

To be honest, if Mass Effect 2 keeps me emotionally engaged and acknowledges the consequences of my decisions in ME1, then why not assume the same for Dragon Age? I understand that there are a lot more major choices that could influence future plots in DA, but BioWare have managed to do things most of us thought were very rare or impossible with dialogue and story, so why not with choice?

I know we're just speculating here, but how would you feel if your character was shoehorned into someone else's universe, effectively another person's life? It kills immersion completely, and makes it seem like your choices in the previous game were meaningless in the larger scheme of things.

I could understand all paths having the same beginnings (ME2 style, you start out being resurrected by Lazarus, starting quests are the same, and then you see the changes you carved into the universe during ME1), but making any choices completely canon would kill the magnitude of your actions.

So let's see. BioWare may surprise us yet. If I had to name one dev who I thought could handle a project as ambitious as this sounds, I'd say BioWare, no hesitation.

They come a dime a dozen anyway right?

To the OP: I'd love for either the Dark Ritual to be cannon or you die forever.

I want the ending in which Teagan sleeps with EVERY Fereldan, no matter of their gender, The Warden shapeshifts into an new Archdemon and leads the Blight and Morrigan dies giving birth to the God child.... which died too.

Alistair ate Anora and married Wynne and rules now as a Mage King.

Zevran and Leliana work as models for Wade´s metal lingerie.

Shale, Loghain, Dog and Oghren have founded a company which releases Hentai and sells it to the Darkspawn. They like tentacles, as we know.

I personally like the Anora as queen, both you and Alistair live option, but that is probably because my human mage is head over heels for Alistair, so I can't make him king if I want to keep it that way. LoL I do think that the ritual would have to play a part if there was ever a "canon" ending, because I agree, it brings up the most interesting paths for future adventures in Thedas to take. I suppose canonically, Alistair being king would take the edge off of the whole problem of the kingdom eventually invalidating the function of the Grey Wardens, because clearly he would never do that, but I feel like if you make Anora queen, she comes to understand how important the Wardens are, so maybe that's just splitting hairs.

I am hoping that the expansion can accomodate the decision I made to make Anora queen and have Alistair remain with the Wardens. Since my character is a paragon of virtue, she really likes him. ;)
