If Bioware were to chose a "canon" ending, which one would it be?

"Alistair ate Anora and married Wynne and rules now as a Mage King. "

We're eating people now?

I want the ending in which Teagan sleeps with EVERY Fereldan, no matter of their gender, The Warden shapeshifts into an new Archdemon and leads the Blight and Morrigan dies giving birth to the God child.... which died too.

Alistair ate Anora and married Wynne and rules now as a Mage King.

Zevran and Leliana work as models for Wade´s metal lingerie.

Shale, Loghain, Dog and Oghren have founded a company which releases Hentai and sells it to the Darkspawn. They like tentacles, as we know.

Finally, a sensible option.

So now your warden needs to do battle with his many, many foes using his incredible skill with playing cards?

Watch my newest show on FereldenTV and concentrate on Genitivi. He will say YES. In a loud voice.
Besides, I always thought Alistair was strange.......:blink::innocent:

DA2 will be 400 years into the future at the time of next blight. We'll get sketchy "canon" history in codex entries that will be vague enough to leave precisely what happened in this period open.

God I hope not. I don't want every series of DA to be fighting a Blight everytime.

Or fighting a B.L.I.G.H.T with Giant Snipper riffles. The periods are there for a reason.

Tirigon, now you're just being absurd.
We all know that Teagan has slept with every worthwhile Fereldan.

Bella in Redcliffe? She works in the place he goes to get drunk in, need I say more?
Isolde? One word for you- "teaGANN!"
Anora? Well, the other choice there is Cailan, so...
Leliana? She is a rogue, shouldn't have any trouble sneaking around behind your back

There're plenty of others, but I don't have the two weeks off that would be necessary to name every woman in Ferelden, plus Shale (essentially genderless now) and Zev.

+10.
Now all we need is a Duke Nukem reference and we're gold.

Every canon ending is always the good one, usually with a tweeeest at the end so as to provide a plot point for the sequel. It's going to be the Grey Warden from the CGI trailers/Promotion footage. So:

  • Human Noble
  • Male
  • Arl Eamon cured
  • Elves cured
  • Harrowmont rules Orzammar (probably?)
  • Circle Tower restored / Mages survive and rebuild
  • Alistair (probably) and/or (giggity) Grey Warden bed Morrigan; Morrigan with child
  • Alistair rules with Anora / Ferelden Golden Age
The rest of the canon stuff, character specific to each companion, will probably vary. Each one could go on differently, but:
  • Morrigan is last seen traveling west through the Frostback Mountains.
  • Leliana travels together with the Grey Warden; composes epic ballard.
  • Oghren becomes the first Dwarven general of the King's forces.
  • Shale goes to the Tevinter Imperium with Wynne to seek a way of regaining her mortality.
  • Sten returns to his homeland and when the Arishok asks him if he found any worthy warriors outside of Par Vollen, Sten answers that he met only one; The Warden.  He is made a general tasked with crushing human resistance in the Qunari lands.
  • Zevran returns to Antiva and become leader of the Crows.
  • Dog... well, Dog is Dog.
That's how I see things, anyway. It'd be the most fitting and leave everything nice and neat for a sequel; cameos included.

Do the 4th summoning ritual in the Circle Tower, Arl FORESHADOW appears, do a quick pickpocket on him before he disappears and you get a codex entry about the god-child. You really don't get a bigger clue than that.

We already know what's happening next thanks to the notes of Arl Foreshadow:

Books to pursue for future endeavors.

**Lost countenance: Ferelden to Orlesian Phrase Book
-Must not offend the potential landlords

Morrigan heads to Orlais.....

Raising Spirits: Offsprings and the Fade
-Terrible two's indeed!

Morrigan's God child perhaps?

Forest Fall: Truth and Legend in the Search for Arlathan
-Survivors? poppycock!

Yay!!  I can't wait to find Arlathan.  Just because it was sunk into the ground doesn't mean it's destroyed....

The Origin of Theses: Knowing more than Everyone without Looking Like a Jackass

-Never get the time to read this. Maybe there's a stage play?

I'm assuming that any future games - DA 2 and 3 - will be set far enough in the future that your decisions can be carried in a general prologue that will smooth differences out enough that they can be believably tied in to the beginning of the next major game. I also assume that DA 2 and 3 will have you making a new PC as well.

It will be interesting to see how they run expansion given that I've taken a different ending on every playthrough so far.

1. No Ritual, Ali dead, Anora rules, PC alive.

2. No Ritual. Non-hardened Ali rules. PC dead.

3. Ritual. Hardened Ali rules. PC is queen.

4. Ritual. Hardened Ali and Anora rule. PC and Zev rebuild Wardens.

5. Aiming for - Ritual. Anora rules. PC and non-hardened Ali rebuild Wardens.

That's a lot of potential differences to cover, and I know I'm not alone in making different endings in my game.

I would have thought, though it is quite minor, that Bhelen being king of Orzammar is more likely that Harrowmont.

I don't see why you wouldn't chose Bhelen if you wern't a Dwarven Noble (though it crushed me helping him. He looks pimp in the crown though).

Other than that, it all sounds very likely.

I would guess the Dark Ritual is canon, however I don't believe Morrigan would not have had a plan B if you did not consent. Bioware may allow her to have the god child even if you did not convince Alistair or participate. Too much plot goodness to give up without a god child.

I agree that the dark ritual is most probably canon, if there would be a canon ending. The default for the game seems to be: Alistair king, Anora off to the dungeon (\\o/) and Loghain dead.

Although everyone knows that the high dragon actually IS the reincarnation of Andraste, so now we have a very pissed off Maker :P

Yeah, I was in two minds about that. In my most recent playthough I helped Harrowmont and, in the end, dispite him ostracising the Dwarves in trade and almost shutting off Orzammar from the surface completely, he did name me his successor - that's about as good as you can get for a Dwarf Noble considering the alternative, Bhelen.

I was thinking about it from the perspective from a Human Noble, though - Harrowmont, from a "good" Humans' perspective, is going to be the logical choice. He's truthful and just. He's traditional and respectful. The outcome, however, is unfortunate.

I agree with you. That was exactly the same wavelegnth I was on and why I pushed for Harrowmont to be King. Surprise surprive-- arrive to the Epilogue and things weren't what I expected. I appreciate that Bioware did this though, showing you that what seems "good and right" might not truly be the case.

As honest and just as Harrowmont is, it's within the context of dwarven society. My "good" human noble was a bleeding heart and wanted to help the casteless. Bhelen was change he could believe in....

He was a little disgusted by the man immediately calling for Harrowmont's execution, mind you.

I would be annoyed if Harrowmont ended up ruling Orzammar. I finally came to a decision after reasoning that Bhelen would be more liberal and open to new ideas, would encourage surface trade and would give the Casteless more opportunities, and thus would benefit Orzammar more in the long-run than the conservative, rigidly caste-based rule that Harrowmont has in mind. Keep in mind that I wanted to be a "good" Warden, and didn't like the fact that Bhelen always resorted to violent/underhanded means to get what he wants.

In short, I put a complete and utter bastard on the throne because I thought he was the lesser of two evils. If Harrowmont's on the throne, it'll ****** me off.
