How is it different standars of beauty when all the females are thin with big breasts and a well defined slim waist?

Really dissapointing to see Bioware not taking a better and more active stance with this...

Can you guys just let this feminist bull**** go. Men are muscular, women are lithe. End. Of. Story. Would it be cool to have a culture that have wacky hair-styles like the Centuri in Babylon 5 (was is Cenutri? Anyway, Londo's race) yes, it would. Would it be cool to have a culture loosley based on various African tribes? Yes, it would.

But can we please, PLEASE, stop making an issue on something that *isn't* an issue. The entire reason it's a 'thing' is because people just can't stop *talking* about it.

Jesus Christ! Talk about double-standards ><

Ah, maybe we are looking at different pictures?

Dwarf Lady is hardly "thin" and neither the Qunari nor the Human female seem to have particularly large breasts (though for her frame, the Elf woman does seem "generously" proportioned). Qunari appears to have an athletic body frame, Elf looks very lithe, Human somewhere between the two.

If Bioware had the funds to make multiple body types for each race (which we can always hope they do have), then a wider selection would be awesome.

But I have to disagree with your statement above - or have I just been trolled? :-)

The game can hardly cater to everyone's tastes, so it's always going to go for the popular stance, in this case I can respect a business decition.

While having possibilities for everyone would indeed be ideal, it does simply not work like that.

Cuz. Body models are a BIG ASS deal to do. You have to redo all the armor for them to fit the new body shape, hell in extreme cases it can even affect animation. And honestly if the choice is fat/flat chested/androgynous body shapes I'll choose the "standard" model of beauty ever single time.

Thank you western media indoctrination!

The baseline for the objective determination of beauty is my grandmother. She was beautiful from my first memory of her until the day she died. Up until the end strangers would comment on how lovely she was.

She was 5'1" tall and had a round face. Start from there. :innocent:

This seems like a fine thread to begin posting Public Domain Victorian Erotica.

I don't want to accidently derail the thread, i'm actually interested in where this discussion will end up.  I have my own thoughts on this but will wait a bit before posting them.

I don't quite understand this topic. Are you against what an ideal body represents or are you longing for an unconventional approach while dealing with character design? Either way, not sure why everyone is freaking out.

non issue. this is a game made by HUMANS for HUMANS. Specifically Western culture humans. We can certainly imagine other cultural appreciation, but we won't be able to appreciate it. Simply put: it won't sell.

The dwarf woman isn't stick thin, the Qunari/Tal-Vashoth woman is athletically built, and none of them have exagerated cleavage. But OP, you haven't actually pointed out what you think they should look like instead.

But where is the part of the OP that goes: Oh Bioware, why are all the men attractive and muscular?!

I don't think that the females are to overly sexualised, they all look fine.
But to put a claim of "different standards of beauty" on it really feels like one is missing the point.

The dward woman might not be slim compared to the others, but that is still what makes her attractive, she has a slim, well defined waist and pretty big boobs, by dwarf standards.

That is the common demoninator for the beauty in all the female characters there, a slim waist and boobs.
I find it sad that it is so one-dimensional.

I wouldn't have reacted if it wasn't for the "different standards of beauty" tag, that is something to really think about.

I will not get into discussion with the other people in this thread, I cannot keep civil when faced with some of the things some people say, so I choose not to. :)

And really, thanks for listening.

Yes. Instead they should all look like they had their faces molded to a frying pan.:wizard:
