You know, there's a perfectly legitimate reason why their aren't a lot of fat people in videogames. In addition to the difficulties associated with the need to create equpiment that fits a larger variety of body types, excess body fat is actually pretty hard to realistically animate.Nomadiac wrote...
I'm thinking the OP wants more diversity in body types to appeal to different standards of beauty. More BBW women for example, I think.
Sure. Why not? I'm fine with what there is, but variety is always good.
I'd just like to point out that there's a happy medium between model thin and BBW: it's called average. Sizes 8 to 16 (US) depending on height.
Women can also be top heavy, bottom heavy, hourglass, straight, and everything in between. Small waists and large hips and breasts are drawn to appeal to straight men.
That said I think the concept art is fine, other than the fact that the human and elven women's outfits would not actually hold up their breasts (those are stereotypically video game gratify defying breasts).

I'd like to see more weighty or muscular woman in video games. Usually it's only the men, and if it's the woman, she's often portrayed negatively or as a joke.

Yes, but even she has a waist that is slimmed to give an exegarated hour-glass figure im combination with very well defined, relativly big and very firm boobs.

I'd love to see more body types but I am bias. I flat out loved how in Saints Row the 3rd you could dial up the females fitness to the point she had some biceps to flex. Though I tend to believe the build of a character should be determined by their stats. A mage with only the beginning strength should not look like a body builder while a warrior with every other point in their strength should look like they could take Joe average's head off with a punch.
I totally agree, I have always wanted this! Each class has different styles and uses different levels of body strength, a warrior would be doing things that build bulky muscle while a rogue would be more agile/refined and a mage would probably be pretty skinny (or fat).

Unless there is a lore reason, anyone who does a lot of excersise and isn't from the Circle shouldn't be skinny. Neither should warriors look like Arnold or Greg Pitt for that matter. The best 'warrior' body that would suit a knight or noble in the medieval ages (imo) can be found in Skyrim. No six-pac abs, no huge barrel chest... just large arms, and a *very* well defined back.
But I agree, dynamic models would be cool (e,g: GTA SA) but I think it'd be hard to implement.

It's amazing that people actually believe this. First of all, any exercise that doesn't involve forced hypertrophy will make you lose weight without gaining muscle. Second, how much you eat is the number one factor in determining your size. And if you actually took a minute to research the subject, you'd find that medieval knights weren't bodybuilders, either. I think you'd be surprised to discover that carrying armor, wielding a sword and shield only worked your shoulder muscles. Swinging the same weight over and over would not cause hypertrophy past a certain point. I also find it funny how you say warriors shouldn't look like Arnold then go on to reference Skyrim's male body type as a better alternative. Seriously? They have tree-trunk arms and visible abs. Skyrim doesn't have gyms. It's designed to look attractive, not realistic.

However, there are plenty of standards of beauty that are NOT subjective, at least not as far as humans are concerned, and they come from very real evolutionary imperatives. Our genes program us to consider certain features "attractive" and certain features "unattractive." If someone is missing a nose, that is considered "unattractive." If someone is missing lips or eyebrows, that is considered "unattractive." If overall the person has symmetrical, pleasing features and happens to be missing a nose or limb, then of course they could still be considered attractive; the person's "attractiveness" must be looked at holistically. But you can see that when you come right down to it, we have very little wiggle room for creating a being that is "pleasing" or "attractive" to a HUMAN (which all the players of these games are); this entity must have at least 90% human features. Sure you can slap on some weird tentacles on the scalp a la Asari, but the rest of the package is very human. If Asari were ALL tentacles, there wouldn't be much Liaramancin' going on.
In Dragon Age, Elves and Qunari and Dwarves can come in extreme HUMAN shapes and still be considered attractive, but you can't go so extreme that it is outside the HUMAN spectrum of "pleasing to look at."

Looks like a PG version of a Luis Royo ilustration.
And if DA:I is aiming for the same feeling as Diablo 3, that would be perfect. As I have no idea what the hell they are aiming for, that might not be such a good idea. Origins tried to be dark fantasy, and thanks to (probably) Martin it looks many associate it with low fantasy, somewhere that picture doesn´t fit. DA2 looked mostly stupid regardless of whatever it was aiming for, so I´m not counting it.

I couldn't be paid to wear a 2 piece like that, simply atrocious. But anyways I wouldn't want a character modeled like this whether it be the pc or a LI. She has a bit too much muscle tone for my taste, which puts a very unappealing damper on the femininity of her body.
