That hood, man. That ****ing hood.

Literally every single in-game screenie featuring the main protagonist reminds of a beautiful painting some kid with a spraycan has vandalized by drawing elephant sized " where is Waldo?!" type of a thing in the middle.

With hood on, he looks like unlockable easter egg special guest character. You know, one you can replace the real pirate character with for few brief laughs.  Like getting to play as that Metroid lass in a Pokemon game.
With hood pulled off, he looks like a frat boi wearing hoodie running among pirates.

The Hooded Assassin dude - mold worked great for cloak&dagger of mediterraen dusk of medieval Europe. He looks approx the guy I wanna look like when stalking evil knights from some clocktower of Vatican.  He most assuredly does not look like a dude I wanna board lasses and penetrate ships with.  He fits the setting every bit as finely as Blackbeard would blend in among Cardinals of Vatican. " In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti.  A(RRRR!!)men."

Setting of AC4 is (surprisingly) rarely seen and pretty much in all ways very exiting and awesome. Cramming AC franchise in it makes an incredibly poor and potentially damaging  fit. In perfect world AC 4 is all about French Revolution and this otherwise great looking game belongs in/begins an entirely different franchise. Outside minigames and sidequests, there is very little in core experience of AC franchise that wouldn't serve to only burden this game.

I gringe at the idea of having to play this hooded derplord and..say,  sit in tavern and share a drink  with a dude who actually looks like a proper pop culture pirate. Any self respecting actual real proper popular culture pirates would proceed to beat mister hoodie to death surely:(

Truth now, out of the two characters getting screen time through launch trailer, which one you'd rather play in game that is all  about life at them high seas? Blackbeard or Mister Bathrobe 1648?

......I wonder if they also stick with the modern day magic DNA scientist wizard  sub plot?

Blackbeard without a question.

And that DNA Scientists wizard sub plot remains to be seen.

ACIII was really meh, so this one certainly won't be a day-one purchase. Hopefully it won't have as much 'faffing about for the sake of faffing about'. Boring collectathons and sidequests (feathers, hunters guild, brawlers, Encyclopedia of the Common Man, Almanac Pages, etc) feel pointless without cool rewards.

The naval combat, on the other hand, was fantastic. Good to see that they're expanding upon that.

I believe they've said that nearly every reward will go towards upgrading the Jackdaw or Edward. The Harpooning upgrades Edward, and I think the treasure maps upgrade the Jackdaw.

You are correct. Another interesting part is the fact that Kenway apperantly has a fleet and can add captured ships to it.

Wonder what the fleet will be used for.

Brian Taylor is a great composer! He also did the soundtrack of Far Cry 3.

If its released on the same day for PC then I'm getting it for PC. Otherwise for the current gen and then later for PC. Not planning to buy a next gen console for a long time ;)

Good to hear i make more jump on the Anticipation train then :bandit:

Milan92, that as in the past, will not be the case.

The PC version will come at the end of November, not with console date.

They contiune the old 2-4 weeks waiting for PC waiting trend for ACIV as well.

Ubi confirmed it awhile back.

Well, LPPrince, the game looks good, but not THAT good :P Damn, AC3 looked amazing as well - I remember drooling over the naval combat shown in the trailers and look how that turned out to be [yeah, it was amazing, but the rest of the game ?].

Then again... Desmond is out from the story, so there is some hope. And they have sea shanties ! I really, really hope they don't screw up the story.

My biggest problem with AC 3. aside from the ending, was that Connor was monotone the entire game. Also he had the personality of a rock, which did him no good.

Edward on the otherhand is gonna be alot more like Ezio and Haytham, charming, reckless and a womanizer.

I also agree that the fact that Desmond is now gone will probably do the story some good, but I'm still a bit skeptical.

The reason AC4 is most anticipated for me is because I care about story-based games. I enjoyed every AC game I played, including the first one after I had to take a much too necessary 6 month break from it. So I want to follow it.

Besides AC, there's ESO(Elder Scrolls Online). Which I'll likely play on my Mac.

Other next-gen titles? Sure I want to play them, but as of this very moment I'm not chomping at the bit for them. Even AC4 I'm not clamoring for hardcore.

I've got patience. I've preordered no next-gen games so far. Hell I haven't even preordered GTA V and thats not even next gen.

All I've got is a preorder on the X1, once I know for certain I'll be able to pay it off, I'll start preordering titles like AC4, BF4, maybe Watch Dogs, maybe The Division(whenever that is), I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton.

How was AC3 a bad PC port? I didn't feel that way at all. It was optimized marvelously.
