2-4 weeks? That's bad news.Expect another bad PC port like AC3

How was AC3 a bad PC port? I didn't feel that way at all. It was optimized marvelously.

Not even close.
AC3 was probably one of the worst ports i ever played
- ****ty controls (why they changed sprint from space to left mouse button is beyond me, same goes for blocking)
- save games geting deleted and progress not being saved at all
- low framerate drops in the cities and even on the boat
- overall bad port and poorly optimized

You might not had this problems, but me and a lot of my friends did and patches didn't fixed anything. Steam is still overrun by people who get problems in ACIII nowadays.
The only game that Ubisoft managed to do justice on PC last few years was Far Cry 3, i also expect  Watch Dogs to be a horrible port, since Ubisoft just sucks at doing justice to 3rd person sandbox games on PC.

The only reason they delayed ACIV is too implant their DRM that will be cracked in less than a few days.

I didn't have those problems at all. The change in control scheme wasn't an artifact of the port itself--it was a change in control scheme for AC3 itself. the same thing happened on consoles in a sense. I think using an Xbox 360 controller is really the only way to play Ubisoft games at this point.

So, no bad ports in my experience. Except for 2, that was pretty bad. Brotherhood fixed those problems, though. I'm expecting good things for Watch Dogs.

And while I'm not happy about the PC version getting pushed back...they've dropped their always-online DRM, did so years ago.

Isn't PC the lead platform for the game's development, though?

Yeah, for Watch Dogs I'm actually fairly certain they're DEVELOPING the game on a PC, then porting it to consoles. Which would mean the PC version will likely be good.

Years ago? I thought their backing down on the DRM was quite recent.

It was...over a year ago. I don't remember the exact time. But it was before AC3.

However, I will point out that The Crew and The Division, two of their games slated for 2014, are always-online. To be fair, they're kind of MMOs, but also to be fair, they both also apparently have single-player stories that you have to be online for.

Yeah stupid CGI pretending to be what you'll see him have in-game hair.

Another year, another Assassin's Creed game. To think there was once a time when I used to get excited about this franchise, sadly I haven't really give'd a crap since AC2. I still like the basic premise of the franchise but AC2, AC Botherhood and AC Revelations felt far to similar to each other ( I didn't even bother with AC3 ). I wish Ubisoft would take thier time with these games and making sure each one was memorable instead of cranking them out each year.

I will say this however, those screenshots do a much better job of hyping up AC4 than the trailer.

5 Months ago I said this.

All of a sudden ( as of 2 weeks ago to be more precise ) I find myself getting very, very excited about this game. The screenshots look awesome and all the videos just make me wish I had this game and I was playing right now. I feel excited about this series again, visually it looks gorgeus, very fresh and different from it's predessors and it looks like they've shaken up enough of the gameplay to re-invent the franchise. I'm hoping to buy the PS4 version when it comes out.

The only reason i will give this game a chance is because of pirate times and naval combat.
I don't expect story to be good, since it was pretty much ruined at ACIII when they decided to completely screw up the Apple of Eden. I hope Edward will at least act and look like an assassin and that his fighting will have some purpose, unlike Connor.

Altair was fighting for brotherhood, redemption and freedom.
Ezio was fighting for justice, brotherhood and family
Connor was fighting for Patrion movement and Washington, (which is totally NOT assassin for me)
Haytham has more and better purpose in his small plot twist than Connor has in his whole arc.

Erm, you must not have paid attention to Connor's entire story arc.

He was fighting for the patriots because he thought they would lead to freedom for his people.

And by-the-way, Ezio wasn't fighting for the brotherhood at all. He was fighting for revenge. At least for AC II and AC:B. AC:R kind of turned it back around.

Did developers said who will be our main character in modern day?
Or will we play Desmond again? It's kind of confusing when you have title that is continuing from III to IV, yet the story is prequel.

Desmond's dead. That simple.

The modern day hero in ACIV is YOU. You are.

And while ACIV's ancestor story takes place before the ancestor story of ACIII, don't let that confuse you.

The reason this is a numbered AC game is because this is introducing our fourth assassin main character.

AC1- Altaïr
AC2- Ezio
AC3- Connor
AC4- Edward

The story is not a prequel I don't think. Or was there proof of that somewhere?

Edit: As prince said, the ancestor you're puppeteering is earlier, but that has no bearing on the present-day.

We're playing an Abstergo researcher. The interesting thing about it is they're advertising that we'll be playing as OURSELVES, or almost a roleplaying kind of thing.

Ubi's kind of moving that way, actually. Assassin's Creed doesn't have a defined protagonist, Watch Dogs does but you pretty much define his morality and there's a tracker for it, as well as experience and leveling, and The Division is straight-up billed as an "online open world RPG."

Fun fact: Ubi has said that Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed games are really set in the same universe, and if you look for clues you'll find easter eggs in the games referencing each other.

Edward Kenway is Connor Kenway's grandfather. The ancestor storyline is the only "prequel" really.

The modern day story moves on from where AC3 left off with Dummy Desmond's death.

Read it somewhere that the YOU of AC IV modern day is the same YOU who played AC3's MP. YOU achieved 100% synchronization and synched your data to the Abstergo cloud, so Abstergo in AC IV has hired you to do some serious stuff for them.

Yes more modern day stuff. That's good since i am one of the psychopaths that like the modern day story-line.
