Why can't this game start a new Franchise:(  So much of everything that  Assassin's Creed is  just burdens such beautiful idea and concept. My head hurts to the mental  image of sea faring pirate ship coming to pieces during one of those terrible DNA virtual reality Matrix loading frame bleh effects. I just know there just has to be some three hours worth of some horrible modern day scifi bullshït rammed in here. And I just know it  fits in as subtlety and finely as boot underneath an eyelid. The whole modern day angle of AC  has to be pet idea of some Head Lizard of Ubisoft or something..lest it would have been stomped to ground imemdiately after first game I mean fükssakeaargh

Why is the player character wearing a college hoodie?

To your last sentence.

Idk.

Maybe ask Ubi themself?

Probably to keep the face from showing.

Haven't watched yet. Have to say I am seriously, SERIOUSLY loving Ubi's approach to games now--to show plenty of non-story "systematic" gameplay so we get a feel for what the game will be like.

Saw the new video. Looks really awesome!

Can't wait to see how the Jackdaw would look with all her upgrades. Also loving the sea shanty's you hear everywhere, a really nice touch.

Your not the only one.

@Milan92

Yep, althrough i have the concern of once you get to a point in the game, where you've basically got almost everything, including upgrades, that will make the challenge a total joke.

And i would really dislike if that is indeed gonna be the case in the game.

Soooo much upgrades would make all enemies become one shots.

I don't think that will happen. Even with all the upgrades in AC 3, you still didn't instantly destroy a Man of War with one shot.

I do think the upgrades will make the game easier, but not to the point that every ship will be one hit kills.

I just hope the upgrades don't potentially mess up with the constraints. That naval ram was NOT a good investment :| (but I don't see that happening this time around - during the demo powder kegs were revealed even if you just fired with regular cannons. Thank goodness).

The thing's that they kinda can't drop the modern part of the story now, they've built it up way too much over the years and are kind of 'stuck' with it now whether they like it or not lol

Well its been confirmed that the mandatory modern day part is about 15 minutes. And including all the optional stuff, it comes around to 5-10 hours. As much as I dislike the moden day part, I dont want it gone altogather because to me AC is incomplete without it. The whole concept of a present times guy exploring his ancestry through his DNA was very alluring to me and sounded almost mythical when I first heard of it back in 2008.

Player charater is wearing a hoodie to hide his face. he puts it on in areas where according to the devs "Edward feels unsafe", meaning restricted and unsecured zones. Either way, its pretty much iconic now. Imagine Garrus without his visor.

While Assassin's Creed IV looks spectacular, I'm still not sure if I want to buy it. That would be supporting Ubisoft's recent annualization policy of the franchise and I disagree with that very much. When they released the last three Assassin's Creed games back-to-back, I was under the impression that it was because they wanted to release the game before 12/21/2012. So you can understand my exasperation at finding out that Ubisoft planned to release another game for the franchise the next year. And this is coming from a guy who was crazy about Assassin's Creed. I still like the series, including the modern-day stuff(which I think is underrated), but I want it to slow down.

I want to be excited for this but I just can't bring myself to and it really does make me sad. I was such, such a big fan of the series and was so into the backstory. I actually enjoyed the modern day story and was hoping for a suitable conclusion after five games of buildup. We didn't get that.

The way AC3 ended combined with Ubisoft general attitude towards the series in how they want to push a new entry every year with cheap hooks have really soured my perspective on it all.

Heh, if I could spew happy rainbows I would be. As fun as I think AC4 will be, I am not looking forward to playing as Sharkbait Edward (he rubs me the wrong way, to say the least; hoping I am pleasantly proven wrong). It'll be nice to have some new content (for me) to play while I wait for AC4's price to drop.

While bringing a Female Protagonist to the current gen platforms (including PC ofcourse) is cool and something good for competition, i am not expecting a great port from Ubi.

They need to make it an really good port if i am to even consider it, also the first screenshots they've released dos'nt look HD to me at all.

I don't think it'll be the greatest qaulity; it's nice they're gonna make some changes, but I doubt it'll be a huge difference. I could be completely wrong on that, here's hoping.

I'm just happy since I want to play it, but I didn't want to buy a Vita just for one game, ya know?

Uhm ... and AC4 related uh ... Play Arts has new figures?

It'd be nice if they actually showed the faces, seeing as the ME figures looked ... different. If the faces are similar quality, I guess it's a good thing they have hoods :P
