I really wasn't keen on this game after ac3 but its getting good reviews across the board, or across the bow, so to speak.

Edited to add pun. Please forgive me.

I'm over an hour into this game. So far, I love it and Edward Kenway's pretty awesome.

Meh, I'm turned off by the fact it was released so quickly after AC3. It just makes everything feel like it was too soon.

AC = Good game with some flaws, (a bit too repetitive and formulaic).

AC2 = <3 <3 <3 Great game that improved upon the original in pretty much every way. EZIO/LEO 4 LYFE!!!!!

ACBrotherhood = Great game, but was released very soon after 2. Plus multiplayer. I was worried, but pleasantly surprised.

ACRevelations = Somewhat disappointed. Released very soon after ACB and it showed. Story was rushed and plot points were slashed and gutted. And multiplayer.

AC3 = Very disappointed. Released very soon after ACR and it really showed. Glitchy. Goddam QTE's. A WTF ending that really jumped the shark IMO. And multiplayer. Thumbs down.

AC4 = I will hold off on this one based on my feelings about the series going downhill.

I have been playing it for a few hours now and I'm really enjoying it.

There is also now a companion app (I got the Android version) to go with the game that Ubisoft have released, which is supposed to act like a secondary screen (or something like that).
Edit - @MarchWaltz - re poker, I am still in the early stages of the game, so can't help, sorry.

You guys need to read this article.

Ubisoft is the second largest gaming company after EA, and they don't have a single dedicated "Assassin's Creed" studio. They have many studios. The Assassin's Creed games get two or more years of development at different studios.

I don't know why some people haven't realized that yet, but some that do still have a problem with a new one popping up every year, even though each has a good two-three year development time.

I think Ubisoft needs another successful franchise, which they hope will be Watch Dogs. Perhaps that'll help.

Watch Dogs, The Crew, The Division. Ubi is really busy with new ones. Though Watch Dogs looks to be the only discrete game of those.

AC4 was being developed by a difference studio around the same time as AC3

That's why each AC games since Brotherhood (AC2 really) came out a year after each other

I knew about the fact Ubisoft had two year development thing with different studios that allowed for the fast release of games, but my feelings on the series are still pretty much on par with sandalisthemaker. I don't really like the changes in Revelations and still haven't played AC3 because of it.

As much as I agree AC2 was best story wise, for me Brotherhood was my personal favourite. I would just like to know if the new game has a decent protagonist and cohesive story and whether it is more in style of AC2/Brotherhood or the later installments.

Does anyone feel that this game is a ****** to Far Cry's success?

However, I wish Far Cry 3 looked similar to AC4, it looks amazing, so much difference even just after a year.

^ Revelations was my favourite, the exotic setting and the warm colour tones was awesome.

Well, by the time I went to my appointment, and got home, it was 8 p.m. when I started playing. I looked up at the clock at one point, and realized I needed to get to bed. It was almost 12:30, and it felt like I'd just started playing. That's a good sign.

I wasn't able to get that stupid music sheet in the first area. I tried about 5 times, and said to hell with it. But at least I made it to Havana. Sunk some ships, made nice with a sugar merchant, synced a couple of towers, found some loot, fought some peeps, rescued some pirates...and I haven't even gotten a hideout, hidden blades, or a ship yet.

My poor husband isn't going to get to see me for a while.

I haven't found poker yet, but I've seen and played checkers at a tavern in Havana. According to the Abstergo challenges, there is one for winning all 3 tavern games, I believe, so poker is probably an option.

Do you have the gambling bug? You've asked about this a couple of times. Image IPB

Did any of you guys get the Season Pass? When I picked up the game, the sales girl at GameStop talked me into buying it for $22. After I got home, I entered the code, and got $15 added to my XBL account. What the...?

That girl also had the audacity to say to me, 'he's going to like this'. I turned and looked at her and said, 'who's he?' I told her I was playing it myself, and she suddenly wanted to be my best friend. I told her she was a beyotch and punched her. (Not really, but I was annoyed).

I'm not addicted to gambling or anything, I just LOVE playing poker inside games. In RDR I spent most of my time playing poker, in Far Cry 3 I did the same. I don't know why I like it, I simply just do.

One of my buddies said "why don't you just get a poker game for the pc" or whatever. That doesn't cut for me. I literally need to play it inside of an already established game.

I like winning fake fake money

I haven't heard alot of people/press that have touched on the Sea aspects, but those few i have heard however, i think did say its not that much better as you would have expected it would be, its improved, but not that big ''for the better'' expand the idea, as the dev's wanted it to be.
