Does anyone know if the companion app can be used with PC copies of the game as well as console copies?

Okay, I'll get it with whatever console I end up getting, because I certainly can't trust my PC or my release-day 360 to handle it, and I can't think of any other game that I'd want to play in the new gen.

Maybe GTA5, but I've never been a huge fan of the series, so AC4 it is. And Destiny.

I honestly wanted to know if the AI would keep spawning an infinite number of troops or if there was a limit. Apparently there isn't.

By the by, does anyone know if the Limited Edition of AC4 comes with digital goodies as well as physical ones?

I was impressed with your screenshots.  I hope you got an achievement for that!

I don't know about the Limited Edition.  I know there is a Special Edition and a Buccaneer Edition in Europe.  The Special Edition comes with a mission called Sacrificed Secrets and some golden swords and multiplayer items (but I am not sure what these are as I haven't played the multi-player yet).  The Buccaneer Edition comes with three missions - Sacrificed Secrets, Hidden Mystery and Black Island, as well as the physical goodies.

@Gravisanimi - I am in agreement with Happy_daiz.  Edward is such a good protagonist, I really like him a lot.  The rest of the characters are also great.  Havana is also a heck of a lot better than Boston.  And you will spend a lot of time on the Jackdaw (OK that's me, I do spend a lot of time on the ship, but that's because I just love being on the sea - pirating is so much fun Image IPB!)

After playing Black Flag, I was thinking that they could potentially still use the ship mechanics in another game, like one set in Japan(given that it's an island chain).

I don't know if someone has brought it up before, but when you finish the first mission, you're given a tour around Abstergo facilities. At some point you come across a guy that is tinkering with a control panel under a desk, and the girl tells you "That's one of our IT guys, he's fixing some stuff for you" and he replies "Not fixing... calibrating!"

I thought he sounded a lot like Garrus/Brandon Keener, which of course I found extremely amusing, though I'm not sure if it's really it or just coincidence.

^^ Other posters have said the same. From hearing him speak again, I do see where you're coming from!

I asked Ubisoft a question about the app and they said "If you have multiple platforms associated with your account, after being asked to login you will be able to choose a platform. It will be available for the PC version of the game".

So, yeah, Edward Kenway: greatest AC protagonist or greatest AC protagonist?

I have to admit Edward is my favourite at the moment, but I haven't played Brotherhood or Revelations yet, so it could change back to Ezio!

Edward is easily my favourite AC protagonist. Just like his general persona and all the things he do. Plus he's a pirate which is +10 approval already

Nah, Ezio holds a special part in my heart. Edward is pretty cool though.

Edward is also my favorite. I enjoyed his critique of the order it's contradictions, especially regarding the creed "nothing is true, everything is permitted." I had the same thoughts during AC2, good stuff Edward - don't drink the kool-aid.

His 'critique' of the creed mainly came from ignorance. Later on in the game, he actually seems to get what it's about and isn't as cut/paste as it seems.

Just finished it on the X360 and I must admit I didn't expect it to be such great game. While the trope of selfish rogue turned noble protector is nothing new, I thought the pacing of it in the game was fantastic. I really liked Kidd's character and enjoyed the back and forth between the both of them and found myself actually giving a damn about them. Taking down the legendary ships was terrific. Even with my ship almost leveled up completely, I had to work on varied strategies to be successful especially against the infernal (literal) man o war twins.

Edward is definitely my favorite AC protagonist. I loved Ezio, and always will, but compared to Edward, he was a little fancy for my tastes. I liked Altair too, but not as much.

It was all I could do to not just spoiler something right there...yikes.

Thank you :P

It comes out tomorrow for the rest of us.

Unfortunately for me, I'm in the middle of a college semester so I'm going to try to wait until the second week of december to play. But I'll back out of the thread.

I'm talking about what he says around sequence 10 or 11(near the end).  I'll have to get on and rewatch it, so I can remember exactly what he says.

I got my PS4 this past Friday along with Killzone: Shadow Fall. I beat it already on the campaign mode. I need a new game now. Should I get Assassins Creed 4? I have never played an Assassins Creed game. Don't hate on me now.

YES.

It would've been better if you went through the whole franchise, or at least the Ezio Trilogy(AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations).

But if this has to be your first one, go for it. I haven't played it yet but everyone's saying its amazeballs, so why not?

I didn't care much for AC1, liked AC2 until the ending which I hated, didn't care much for AC3... would I enjoy AC4?

Gameplay was pretty fun but never stellar due to counters being overpowered, I hate the whole pieces of eden/advanced ancients plot and how your targets are often just irredeemable bastards.

The game feels much more like you are playing a period piece as opposed to the other games which had lengthly portions of the game played in todays world. The real world segments are pretty short and just involve hacking computers without any sneaking or combat to contend with. You only have to do a handful of those if thats all you want to do. If you liked the naval combat in AC3, you'll like Black Flag. Its much more invovled now and a lot of fun. Most of the time you feel like you are playing a straight up adventure game. There is a bit of the mumbo jumbo stuff that we found out about in AC2 but its all done very well. The game looks great, even on the 360 version, and the atmosphere is spot on.

24 hours to go on PC release. How is it compared to the previous games?

I have a feeling you'll love it.  I feel the same way as you about the previous games, save the AC2 ending.  But the ending in this game is not controversial or expected, really.  Just a good ending.

Counters are still overpowered and the game itself is generally easy, MP can be challenging if you're into that.

Edward kind of chuckles at both the Templars and the assassins, don't want to give anything away.  but the coming expansion features his first mate, Adewale, who is more srs business about the creed.

So... I've played it for a few hours and I've got to say I'm impressed; it's definitely a very pleasant surprise after Assassin's Creed III though.

One big disappointment though is that it looks like they've scrapped a bunch of the weapons. No more short blades, axes (only exist as heavy weapons now), or blunt weapons.
