But *please* tell me James is a chick, I mean, it's OBVIOUS, but there's still nagging doubts that the game will go "haha **** you, you're heterosexuality is nothing to us!" 'Cos is she hot or what? xD

24 hours to go on PC release. How is it compared to the previous games?
I was waiting for that, but then I realized the EU date is different by two days.
I even had nothing to do today. What am I going to do now?

While I don't think selfishness is an attractive trait - it does make him more unique and gives us a different type of assassin and perspective for once. Also his character development is alot beter then what Altair had in AC 1 and especially Connor (But that was probably because the guy didn't develop at all lol)

Berserk darts are the greatest.
They are my favorite. They're also especially handy for assassinations, where you don't want to be seen. Just shoot the target with one, and the guards around them will do the work for you.

Agree. Altair will always remain my number 1 assassin, but Edward is really close to him. Edward has more character development in the first 5 minutes when he crawls on the beach and starts laughing. At least when you play with other assassins you feel badass and they always have something memorable:
Altair - You're dead, you just don't know it yet
Ezio - Requiescat in pace
Edward - Yar-har mates
Connor - I WANT CHARLES! (that sums up Connor perfectly)

It's kinda like an "I win" button in a lot of cases. Entertaining to just see chaos ensue. Especially when you get a brute who then proceeds to fight with another brute.happy_daiz wrote...

Then you have to watch them continuously knock each other down on the floor and rumble for about a minute before finishing, lol.

Berserk darts remind me of an illusion mage playthrough of Skyrim that I had once(DAT FRENZY//MAYHEM). Most OP character I created.
I was always tackling couriers to keep my dart supply full in AC. I have to say that I wasn't a fan of rope darts. The fact that you have to push LS to hang enemies is very annoying because LS changes the screen color.

I also dislike rope darts, for a couple of reasons. First, why the heck is it a consumable item? I mean, I get it, everything else is, but I'd rather it be like AC3 in that regard. Every time I misfire, that's one less rope dart. The second reason is that it isn't intuitive. As soon as you use the dart, you see a "Kill" prompt for X. If you do that, nothing happens, and the dart is released. Very frustrating.
They work great on animals in trees (monkeys), but that's about it.
AC4 will be worth the wait. I can't wait to hear what you think of it!LPPrince wrote...

And berserk darts are great for assassinations!
But I must confess I am not a huge fan of Altair. Voice acting is a big thing for me when it comes to story driven games and I found his voice very monotone and I found his character a little dull. Sorry! I'm sure that if I read the books I might see him differently.

The rope dart is waaaaay late in the game. I think like sequence 11? At first, I was a little confounded that we had to wait so long, but after trying it for myself, and failing miserably at it, I decided I really don't care. If there's one negative aspect of AC4, to me, that would be it. But it's so minor, it could be easily discounted.

I think it will be a while before I do get the rope dart as i'm only on sequence 8. I get too distracted shootin' and lootin' on the Jackdaw

I don't know if he counts as a protagonist, but Haytham is my favourite playable character (or...character in general.) in an AC so far. Looking forward to seeing how daddy stacks up. :S

Lol, poor monkeys. Never tried that. Made me mad that the first red howler monkey I ran into was during a sequence where I had no weapons.

The worst part of AC3 for me was when I realized I couldn't play his character any more and was stuck with Connor. Edward is also top notch.SergeantSnookie wrote...

Haytham's backstory is pretty tragic. Which is why the epilogue left me a bit depressed since we know what **** is about to go down next. Calm before the Templar storm.

Game is incredible so far, and looks absolutely gorgeous on PC, and I assume next-gen too. Naval combat feels much more refined, along with pretty much everything else really. It's great how I actually WANT to do all the stuff they throw into it, unlike AC3. And Edward is awesome. I smell Far Cry 3's influence on it at many points; which is never a bad thing. Like FC3, I'm off doing story missions and then...ooh, a shiny.
Also, can I just say how badarse those pirate-ey coats are?

And one more screenshot I took for the road.

One day, little guy...

It is pretty much the Frenzy spell from Skyrim, lol. I went back to play a bit of AC3 the other day and was disappointed when I only say poison darts in my inventory. Got too used to using Berserk/Sleep darts in IV!Kalas747 wrote...

I only really used rope darts in the missions that had the optional objectives of using them. They're pretty unnecesary otherwise.
Plus I kept getting confused by the button prompts when first using them. I'd be in a tree above someone and press the button that said 'Hang' figuring that I'd end up hanging the enemy and ending up having Edward just hang off the tree.

Future AC games should have your character say various things in frustration when you fail. At least we didn't have to contend with the crazy guys in the first AC (who usually knocked me into water to drown) and those insuffrable minstrils who swarm you like flys at the worst possible moment.AstusOz wrote...
