Especially with Edward's development. Playing through again and seeing the flashbacks, and understanding what's at the end of them--that's sad for me especially. But well done all around.

Can we abandon the Assassin franchise and just keep going with this pirate thing? This game took me by surprise so much.
The only thing I feel is lacking is the supporting characters in your crew. Unless you pick up some more later that I don't know about, there's just Adewale. Obviously there can't be dozens of fleshed out crew members, but even just one or two more named, voiced, crew members showing up in cutscenes would be nice.
One thing i personally would have preferred is more focus on even your broader companions: Blackbeard, Vane and Ben, *cough* Kidd. The game does establish that everyone is bros, and I formed a bond from that, but it'd be nice if we understood a bit how they all came to know each other. An origin origin story, of you will.

Does anyone else find it a tad bit sad that Edward and Anne never found each other in the end? I mean they began developing a special bond as the whole pirate gang started to break apart around them, not to mention she became the Jackdaw's new quartermaster. I was hoping Edward would go for it when I saw the look on his face as he read the reply from England that Ah Tabai gave him in the Observatory.
Kinda disappointing really; they would've been the perfect Bonnie and Clyde of the seas.
Other than that, what a fan-f***ing-tastic game! I really enjoyed it, best one since AC2/Brotherhood by far.

What? Yeah they do. Apparently she fathers Edward, and in the ending CGI you can tell she's around, somewhere.
Edit: Though, there's no plot itself with the two of them as pirates.

Eh, I'm a sucker for bittersweet endings, so I liked their sad parting.
Besides, are they even allowed to do that? Pair their fictional character with a historical one? :S

For real? Because as I understood it she chose to stay behind when Edward asked her to join him as he was setting sail back to England with his daughter.

No, they weren't sailing back to England immediately. As far as I know.
And really, Edward's dialogue with Haytham is pretty obvious--something like, "and when this is over we can find your mum, away from all this posh stuff." Seemed pretty clearm to me.

Well, Ezio got his groove on with Caterina Sforza, and she was a historical character.

Hmm, would've been nice if it was true at least, and made it not that much of a bittersweet ending as it appeared to be.

I wouldn't want Ubisoft to abandon AC because I am a AC fan, but I do Iove the pirate//naval theme of the game. So a new IP along these lines would be most welcome.
It is a shame there weren't more crew supporting characters. I have to admit that I wanted more cut scenes and gameplay with the supporting characters generally like Blackbeard, Charles Vane and Benjamin Hornigold, etc. There wasn't enough!
I haven't finished the main mission yet, so I haven't read any more posts (I have scrolled past the spoilers - thanks for the prominent warnings

Lost 14 hours of gameplay because Uplay ate my save game. Complained on the forum, got told that I should write a ticket to the support, got an error message that the ticket couldn't be send because of a technical problem.
Gotta love Ubisoft <_<
And I can't say that I'm really motivated to replay those 14 hours despite the awesome game, since it seems like those problems are pretty common. With or without UPlay Cloud Save.

Oh and also, enough with the male protagonists already, I'm freakin tired. We already had 3 guys (in 5 games). Just give us one female assassin and not on PS vista.
Assassin's Creed V should feature a female protagonist during the Napoleonic Wars with an explorable Paris, Vienna, Königsberg and Moscow. And it should have a long period of development rather than being milked from the Assassin's Creed cash cow after only a year or so.

And that ending... the feels!
Man this game has left me a little empty. Might have to do with my ****ed up graphics card and wait in order for some PC gaming, but I seriously can't bring myself to play more after than ending. It really hit that feel. 'specially when that part with them guys on that table drinking.
Well, I did a bit of everything, which is usually how I like to play these games with **** ton to do. I could probs clock another 15 hours, but I feel 30 is satisfying enough. And it's a damn good time considering how short AAA titles are these days.
Well done Ubisoft!
EDIT: Spoilers!!!!
Well no freaking wonder he's that awesome. He's Haytham's daddy!
Which makes Assassin's Creed 3 a horrible game for making me kill him.

AC4 hardly looks like it had just one year of development. It feels a lot less rushed than AC3
P.S Are the books any good? Btw. I'm cautious with VG books. Though I did enjoy the DA ones well enough.

I'm not even gonna bother reiterating why each game has a 2-3 year dev cycle.

I was being sarcastic when I wrote that :innocent:
But yeah, it's obvious each game get's quite a bit of time. No way could they release these beasts every year.

How well is this optimized for PC? I know Ubi shafted PC gamers in Boston.
I get some frame rate stutters even though my system is high end, but overall it's pretty decent. And I never got a single CTD.
