I'm not saying it's impossible for IV to be quality work. I'm just saying that this is the trend Assassin's Creed has been following.

Well, I liked Brotherhood and Revelations. Revelations not as much I'll admit(I think nearly everyone feels that way) but they were nice.

I always used to come back to Brotherhood even after I beat it. I'd just get my Armored War Horse and ride through the countryside of Rome. It was nice.

I think I'm probably making it seem like I dislike the spin-offs. I don't, honest. Brotherhood was something I was really excited for, along with Revelations. It's just that I really, really dislike paying full-price for a game that doesn't "wow" me with new innovations. Brotherhood and Revelations expanded on what made Assassin's Creed II amazing. I, II, and III all had their own reasons for being great.

If it's going to be a numbered sequel, I want Ubisoft to make another huge leap. Black Flag features Haytham's father, and probably sailing, which is a mechanic that was introduced in III. They're expanding on what made III great, both in the lore (by using Haytham's father) and in the gameplay, instead of giving ACIV it's own reason to be a new, amazing Assassin's Creed game.

This is what the spin-offs are for. Expansion. The numbered sequels are for new trends. Innovations.

Perhaps they're breaking that trend of what the numbered sequels and spin offs bring.

Hell, this one is numbered AND has a "spin off" title to it.

So I don't see the big deal.

I'm currently playing AC2, it's fun as long as I stay on the main mission, but even then there's way too much 'collect x' type of content that I find pointless and repetitive. If they want to improve the series getting rid of (most) of that stuff would be a start. Also, add a proper stealth mechanic. Other than that I'm enjoying it.

Ubisoft and EA are ruining their franchises. I wonder how those games can be redeemed even if their license is bought by other publishers.

I just don't think that's a particularly good idea, I guess.

Regardless, I'll buy it, or get it as a gift, or whatever. This kinda stuff just gets to me. You've seen me in the Crysis 3 thread when the beta came out. I don't like games that feel too similar to their predecessors. Makes me feel like I'm getting ripped off.

I still need to play Revelations and III. I was mainly waiting for a box set of the five current games so I can play through the entire "Desmond Saga". But I might just pick up the games one at a time, considering the first four are cheap and it won't be long for III to go down in price as well.

On another note, has anyone noticed that Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Edward pretty much have the same face as Desmond? I just find it funny every time I think about it.

Christ, they're making another one so soon after AC3?

Assassin's Creed is the new Call of Duty.

Another year, another Assassin's Creed game. To think there was once a time when I used to get excited about this franchise, sadly I haven't really give'd a crap since AC2. I still like the basic premise of the franchise but AC2, AC Botherhood and AC Revelations felt far to similar to each other ( I didn't even bother with AC3 ). I wish Ubisoft would take thier time with these games and making sure each one was memorable instead of cranking them out each year.

I will say this however, those screenshots do a much better job of hyping up AC4 than the trailer.

Although !!! Creed III was released what ? 3-4 month ago  and they are already talking about ACIV ? Ubisoft need to slack a little. Their whole franchise is becoming a parasital infection.
