I've been looking around for a specific style for an elf mage (must be compatible for an elf, please!) for a good few weeks now. Alas, no luck.
The design I have in mind is reasonably simple, one long braid down their back.

She already has a couple similar to that but even better she takes requests directly. She's incredibly nice as well.
