unfrotunately, i took another nerf hit....

This time it is self-inflicted.... Gotta hit up the farmer's market, gym, then play, but not too late cuz i took on extra shifts :(

@mega... i am hoping to try this kit to see if we disagree on something and debate on how to use it to its max potential. should be interesting :)

I'm curious about the max damage you can do with Dark Sphere detonation. What if you took the other evolution 6 rank? Is that a multplicative bonus or additive?

It's probably additive, but withour proper testing I'm just venturing a guess...

The "Implosion" evolution looks like it does great single target damage on paper... but, damn... that's A LOT of radius to give up. Would probably be good on maps like Glacier where the enemies can't spread out too much. I played him on Vancouver, Ghost and Hydra.

I will spec out of Dark Channel completely because it does nothing for him. The Sphere overrides the DC priming and the explosion doesn't cause a BE. I use Seeker Swarms for DR and that's it. This character will mostly revolve around Ascension Mode than biotic detonations. The humongous cooldowns are just garbage and the startup animation of his two new skills are way too long.

I don't like him at all. The Sphere is just a biotic grenade with cooldowns, the Swarms are just re-skinned Biotic Orbs and Ascension Mode doesn't give enough bonuses to risk your neck merely by casting it, let alone by surviving a 20 to 40% damage penalty to your paltry health and barriers.

But then again, the Talon is the worst character from any game, of all times.

Great minds think alike... or you know, think of the only based possible with the Colelctor Adept that is gold viable. Have to admit Collector, Cabal and Talon were all a little disappointing. Collector I had some fun with after respeccing to a build similar to this (6/6/6/4/4) and using the CSMG. Used the exact strategy aswell.

Cabal I'm still not sure about. Poison Strike seems a little odd mechanics wise though she is very maneuverable and the Nightshade Blades and Biotic Focus are both badass.

Talon, still can't find a way to make him work. Somehow, as stupid as the enemy AI is, they aren't really stupid enough to trip the mines, even at chokepoints they'll just camp outside for no reason... They do amazing when they do work though. Found myself relying mostly on weapon + melee and just spamming Y whenever I saw a boss or large spawns, manually detonating by placing a 4th mine continually. Shame you can just detonate them yourself without wasting a grenade per detonation. Might run a 4/6/6/4/6 spec entirely to maximise nades (17 nades /w Grenade Capacity Evolutions on the Arrows. I found AP Arrows underwhelming and Tatty apparentally found Concussive underwhelming. Might be interesting to just bombard spawns /w Mines.

I don't spec into DC because it too slow for me. For Dark Sphere I did: Damage, Recharge speed, Unstable
Radius is incredible, perfect for crowd control. 

Seeker Swarms was: Recharge, Damage reduction, and Swarm count. Helps me with all that DR and fitness. not really for Bioexplosions but great for stunning.

Vengeful Ancient: All spec into power damage- no explaination there. Also I don't like heavy Collector/Prothean weapons on him. Too... slow in my opinion.

Fitness: Health, Ascension, Fitness expert.
Weapons: Paladin X with power and piercing mod.
Every character I play I've spec into playing on it's own. With 200% recharge speed, High health and 40% DR, I can launch Dark Sphere in groups killing most mooks leaving big ones open for my clip. 
It's simple for me though... I might switch fitness into ascension once he feels like a second skin though.

I went with a similar build to the OP's, just with different evolutions.
Went 6/6/6/5/3:
Dark Sphere-6- Detonation/Recharge/Dark Matter
Seeker Swarms-6-Recharge/Damage/Swarm Count
DC- Damage/Slow/Pierce

I went for this build after trying 6/3/6/5/6 for a couple of games. Both worked alright, but I liked the extra ranks in seeker swarms for detonating BEs.

Theoretically this works...

Problem is, that those bees make for **** detonations, as horrible as biotics orbs.

Basically he has a slow ass singularity and biotic orbs. Don't you dare say he's the best biotic with the human adept right in front of you...

Why three stars? This seems like a thorough and well thought out build. Haven't unlocked the class and probably won't, so maybe I'm missing something.

I use swarms at 5 with DR, ascension for faster recharge, (Still have 10% DR), and use an imploding sphere. I cast the sphere, dark channel an enemy (I only have it at 3), then explode the sphere. It relies on your team for better explosions and your gun a bit more, but it's a lot tankier and works on platinum.

I might try this this out. Basically, right now I've skipped DC to see the full extent of the new powers. Ascension is really awesome, and I use the x4 Seekers with DR evo to balance things out. Tried out the Executioner with him and basically I'd just send the orb and detonate it and clean up what's left with the pocket sniper.

I put 3 into Dark Channel so I could put six into his fitness tree, which has some unique evolutions, and makes him much less fragile.

This is pretty much what everybody agreed was his main strength. I personally can't give up fitness, though. Seems to squishy for me.

My question is which weapons are you using on him? I have a PPR VII and I tried that on him and he does certainly have some great damage output but he suffers greatly from the cooldowns which cripples his power output. I also have a collector SMG IV but I never personally liked the gun myself. I wonder if it's any better on him though due to that 10% boost... Cooldowns would also be pretty nice.

Also, I don't spec fully into dark channel since many of the later evolution are simply for cooldowns or more DoT damage when I simply want to use it as a primer. I may be incorrect but I don't find the full six points necessary.

If you want to use it as a primer then you'll want to put 6 ranks into it since the higher the rank of the powers the higher the damage of the biotic explosion.

Skip out on the nuke? Personally, that's his unique part that makes him so interesting to play. There's no feeling like launching that ball at a spawn and raking up a kill streak. Of course, your spec is viable also but it just seems a little bland since we have so many characters that already fit that role.

I would not put a PPR or any weapon that requires sustained firing on any caster.  I haven't had a chance to play him yet but I'm probably going to try a Scorpion X as that will add crowd control, something that he lacks according to everything I've read. CSMG is nice for casters too, although offers no crowd control. I haven't really looked at the new weapons, so I'll have to see how they can complement his abilities.

Dark Channel/Swarms alone is very powerful AND fast... but when you add that with max Dark Sphere... it's absurdly powerful.

PPR or Collector SMG as primary weapon. Is quite effective, the cool-downs do need to be toned downed a tad bit. Ascension stance needs a big buff. It offers too little for so much sacrifice at the moment. 

I'm not sure if it's just me but Dark Sphere seems a little buggy at times. It seems like the supposed damge over time is not being applied. I can see the enemies health "taking damage" but never actually going down despite the description saying 500 damage over 7 seconds. Thoughts?


Still getting a hang of him, and will try out some different builds. Regardless, he's my favorite character for obvious reasons. :P

That is exactly how I spec him and how I play him. Really good kit, takes a bit of getting used to. I'd be interested to see a build that makes use of Ascension though. It's basically like an extra power and I think it could be really useful.
