For some reason i hadn't really thought about romance in Awakenings - which is strange because its always one of the parts of Bioware games that i look forward to seeing. I'm with you in hoping that we get the same level of choice that we did in DA:O, but i have to say i wonder if there will actually be a full fledged romance plot line. If not, I'm sure The Pearl can't be the only brothel in Ferelden

well if your PC was gettin' it on with Zev, then ya I assume they'd write that in- wouldn't they have to for continuity of your storyline? That is, assuming, there is any further romantic involvement in Awakenings. But Bioware is pretty good when it comes to carrying over characters so don't worry; they wont make your PC un-gay. lol

Well, we haven't heard anything about romances in Awakenings, and since only one companion from the original will be available, continuing a romance from the original won't be an option either it seems.  My guess is that due to the overall shortness of the expac, that we won't be seeing new romance options, so being gay or not will be totally irrelevant.  We'll find out eventually as they start to release info on Awakenings.

I hope there are romance options, but I'm starting to think there might not be. From pure guesswork from Dev posts and what others have said, it actually looks like two of the new companions might develop (or have?) a romance, and the PC helps sort it out, for good or bad.In my main playthrough (the character I liked most) I romanced Leliana, and I hope she at least has a cameo. If she doesn't, then the better dang well be a good reason why we broke up/she isn't there/she died, otherwise I will be peeved.

If she is there as a cameo and the relationship is still going, naturally I won't partake of any romance. If she is there and we broke up, I might do a romance depending. If she isn't there because somehow she died, I will not do a romance, I will play the heartbroken PC.

So maybe Zev will be there in a similar fashion for you? That would be nice, although there might not be as much interaction. But so far I don't think anyone can say for sure.

I want Leliana to be in Awakening as we were lovers (F/F) and we said we would go on new adventures together. I sincerely hope that is the case as why would the script mention things like that at the end if not the case?

Does what was said have no meaning for any character? Will we never know what happened to any of them? How sad if all previous charcters were left wandering in ther wilderness.

Of course you can be gay. It would be entirely unlike BioWare to decide your character's sexual preference for you.

Whether you will have the option to act on that preference is unknown, but you will absolutely be allowed to be gay.

Alistair is straight in Origins. I don't think they're going to gay-him-up for you for Awakenings.  Sorry if that bursts your bubble.

Hopefully there will be M/M in Awakening, if there are new romances to explore. Hordes of the Underdark was an expansion and a fairly 'short' experience, but it still had full-fledged romances.

I'm sure you'll get all the gay sex you could ask for. I read there's a special team working on the gay scenes for Awakening. So far, in fact, the gay scenes are the only thing completed in Awakening; now they just have to build a plot around them.

I liked the romantic subplots in Origins, one of the best parts of the game. I was really happy with the Morrigan one - it ended exactly as it should have, and averted that whole idiotic "defrosting the Ice Queen" thing that's so common in crappy movies.



But I'm not eager to see any romantic subplots in the expansion. I want to see a good main story line with a cool antagonist. Gameplay wise, more balance for spellcasters as they are overpowered and some extra specializations would make things more exciting. But other than that, I don't really care. Bells and whistles are nice, but that's not what I pay money for.

Bioware obviously strives to make everyone happy no matter how wrong or weird it is. I wouldn't be surpised if they start kissing up to everyone who has some weird fetish just to make them happy.

There's a mod that allows you to have sex with many of the characters- males and females- in the game, but it doesn't have any long-term effects on the story of the game.

that's about the extent you can get Alistair to gay-it-up.

In the IGN Q&A they said there is sexual tension between the new companions so I am pretty sure there are new romances.

Yeah, but Zevran is boring as all hell - the only "gay" character in the game is a scrawny elf.  And I'm not asking that Alistair be "gay," but romanceable by both sexes.  For the people out there that want him to be straight, you can romance him as a woman.  But, for those of us that would prefer something a little... different, we would be able to pursue that route.

Regardless, I doubt BioWare will add additional romance options to Alistair - I'm just putting up the suggestion. regardless.
