Sorry, but it deserves it.

The character design for EDI was absolutely atrocious/abysmal and I'm glad that community is labeling it as so because it really does well and truly deserve it.
Hell, even Jack calls EDI a sexbot in the single player story... so really, its lore-friendly.

But that doesn't stop the concept of her design being cheap, trashy and lazy.

Hey! Thats why we love her, right?

The design is cheap and trashy sure - and you can argue about it being her personality and character that is important.

But I think there is a deeper issue with her having the body at all - especially in extended cut with Shep helping a wounded EDI body back to the ship while the third squad member limped behind. It was a shell and a machine - and ME2 really pushed EDI being the Normandy - so the focus on EDI's body being more than that (when the Multiplayer has now made it an easily replaceable item) kind of took the focus off of EDI and put it on the sexbot.

Some may. I won't. It's a juvenile phrase.

Same here. I think it's an indicator of overall intellect, to be honest. Some people just have to "namecall," considering the the Internet to be some kind of schoolyard. Whilst the parts of the world that have since grown up just shake their heads, sigh, and move on.

There's a lot of it around here, too. People trying to come up with names for BioWare employees they don't like, for plot elements they don't like, and even going so far as to not being able to spell BioWare itself. The stupidity of this irritated Bryan so much at one point that he explicitly wrote that he wouldn't respond to any threads that had BioWare misspellings in the title. It almost felt like he wasn't far away from banning those people outright.

So, yeah. You won't hear it from me, either. It's just distasteful, and it's misogynistic bull****. EDI was a brilliant character, sot he Infiltration Unit is kind of neat, like having EDI in multiplayer. So I find the nickname repugnant, and insulting to EDI's character.

So calling her a sexbot is immature... But designing a robotic body that looks like a naked woman in bodypaint... is... not?

Personally I'm gonna stick to it. I'm tempted to star calling the Juggernaut sexbot too, since he's one really attractive killing machine. But it's not just the same thing. His buttocks weren't rendered with the same loving detail as the sexbot's.

The nickname is canon, and used in game.

I personally don't find it funny, but I certainly don't think its mysoginistic either.

The body is insulting to her character. The body was designed by actual people, that took their time to decide her shapes, and final appearance.

And that final appearance had sculpted female genitalia in it. That's immature.

lol @ using Sexbot being immature.

Its a robot (bot) designed to appeal to a base need (sex) for infiltration purposes.

If Sexbot isn't an apt description - I don't know what is.

People call it a Sexbot because it LOOKS like a Sexbot, and is even refereed to as such in the main game, and I fail to see how that is particularly juvenile or misogynistic. At least people aren't calling her the N7 Cameltoe...

It isn't a matter of humor, it is just a matter of fact that any humanoid female robot regardless of programing can and will be used for sex. I can verify this, I am from the future.

Yeah. When you think about it, Rule 34 is in full effect, even with things that aren't humanoid.

I call her Femputer.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to be a Femputer, pretending to be a Fembot, in a Manbot's Manputer world?

I call her EDI.

Which is the only thing a smart person would call the delightful, intelligent, compassionate being who controls the Normandy's Airlocks.

Fembot or EDIbot makes more sense since she's in the form of a female & she looks like EDI. But sex has nothing to do with anything here. When I hear or see "sexbot" all I think of are all the retarded immature little kids we have to put up with on Xbox Live. They think they're funny or clever but they're really just stupid.<_<

She didn't even use ''sex'' to infiltrate, she did so as a scientist. There's really no excuse for how the body is rendered.

Edi's body was unnecessarily sexualized. I hate it when people try to brush that off, and fail to see why that trend is immature and offensive in videogame design.

So I call her sexbot, because her looks were designed to be sexually attractive first and foremost, and I don't like it when people try to sugarcoat things like that.

It's a highly sexualized robot, just like edi which was purely fan service. The name is apt because that is all it is. Look at her then look at a geth unit, you see the difference?

so it's offensive to make the female form alluring, but when males are designed to be buff, ripped and chiseled, pretty much the ideal look for men, it's alright?
