Give. Me. A. Break. Look at the body. Look at it. Then tell me, straight-faced, that Bioware didn't have sex in mind, and a... certain... demographic in perticular, when they designed it.
Read me.
I don't care what Bioware chooses to put into the game, you don't have to run with it and take it a few steps further down the drain.
I'm saying I don't care what Bioware had in mind, it's obvious what they had in mind. It's just testament to people's own taste if they support it. Mocking it by making fun of it is still demeaning imo.
People are taking it to the logical extreme precisely because it looks so damn ridiculous.
Some do, and I think they're not helping. Others just support it, find it amusing, joke about it, take it a few steps further. I think it's disgusting, I don't much care for their 'reasons'.
If you want to play the offended virgin, fine by me,but don't claim moral superiority because of it.
What you ran out of things to say so why not insult me? I'm not going to lower myself to that level.
I'm not claiming anything, just stating my opinion. You don't have to agree with it.

Why are people calling people who call the sexbot a sexbot, sexist? I thought the definition of sexism was, men have it and women want it.
Feminists will be feminists. You can't please everyone 100% of the time.
I see my earlier estimation on the stupidest post of the day was premature. All of the above is just.... mind-blowing.
@Dee v3 - Perhaps because it is not a sexbot. The design to begin with was sexualized. While the implications on why can be argued freely, that is not the same thing. ****** over someone/thing and having sex with someone/thing are not the same thing. Being sexy and being purely used for sex are not the same thing. Learn to differentiate.
Giving EDI a sexualized form to begin with was demeaning to the character given the implications and the character's history, I will agree. However, the usage of this model in multiplayer is simply a reuse of assets. A mature way to look at a model would be to disregard the original intention, look past the form and recognize it as a fun character to play. That is to say, the usage of the term 'sexbot' has passed the stage of "mocking an immature design decision" and has gone into "insulting a character for their appearance". It *is* juvenile.
Recognizing this has nothing to do with feminism and even less to do with hating men. Such a claim is downright absurd. Labeling people put off by the insulting nature of the term "men-haters" is a poor way to defend one's immaturity.
Finally, what to say about a statement such as "it's not actually a woman, it's a robot"? Firstly, I suppose tens of thousands of controversies risen over artworks that mock certain figures and the like should never have occured because "it's not an actual person" and no one is allowed to feel offended?
Secondly, this statement, if assumed correct, should render any usage of the word "sexbot" invalid. It is simply a peculiarly shaped piece of metal. Why is everyone reading sex into it?

If you can't see anything with
all those curves as anything other than a sexbot, that is precisely the
opposite of political correctness.
The design's a bit dodgy,
too, but at least it makes sense in-universe - it's a robot that's meant
to fit in with human society, and a lot of blokes are more likely to
bend over backwards to help a pretty face on a buxom body - and that
probably includes myself more often than I'd like to admit. But purely
aesthetically, it's a design that works. It's a nice looking robot. That
doesn't mean it's there to shag your **** off. It's more for
infiltration. And smashing reapers' heads in. In fact, the infiltration
unit doesn't have sex once in the entire single player. But cos it looks
nice, that's all it's for? No. Not biting.
Sexbot, as a name,
feels kind of degrading from where I'm standing, and I do feel a bit
embarrassed whenever I see people using it. That said, I've been calling
it Femputer, so it's not like I'm above a stupid joke. I do agree that
it's a grey area - the AIU is, in the most literal terms, a sexualised
object, and Sexbot is kind of protesting against that kind of shallow
teenage pandering - so I'm not judging anyone who calls it that, but
it's not a phrase I'm comfortable using. I'm not convinced a sexualised
object and a sex object are the same thing. I'm dearly hoping the word
shrivels up and dies, but fearing it probably won't.
In conclusion: DOES NOT FEMPUTE.
This is why it is degrading. The above post portrays it quite nicely in my opinion.
Except it is not "protesting" in any shape or form anymore. People have gotten carried away and some evidently don't know what they're talking about, what with throwing feminists into the discussion for no reason whatsoever.

So what you're saying is this: The sexbot, is not actually a sexbot? Just an over sexualized bot created by BioWare to appear as a sexbot. And we, the immature sexually starved BSNers, just call her a sexbot to degrade women and/or make a poor, distasteful joke about said sexbot. And, according to the white knights that take things entirely too serious, the sexbot is nothing more than a fembot(que Austin Powers theme for giggles) and we should refer to it as such, right? Well, sexbot it is then.

LOL "virgin". A fine example of why you shouldn't assume things about people you know nothing about.
Furthermore, it makes no sense in context. It is precisely those immature and deprived of sex that generally seem to choose to look at the character as a sex object, or in general that choose to read sexual purposes into everything, don't you think so? I'd assume virgins would be those people. But then again, I tend to not assume anything about virgins either, as I'm not immature and closed-minded....

Remember that you can put Geth scanner on anything.
I prefer my robots natural.

It's a figure of speech. It means people who take offense at the slightest thing and act morally superior because of it.
In case you didn't notice, the ''sexbot', term is not serious. It's not a values judgement or **** shaming or anything like that. It's people using a term coined by Bioware to describe a sexualized robot.

You don't like it, send a message to BioWare to make a different model, they would totally jump the wagon I am sure.

Since you're labeling me a feminist even though my post has nothing to do with feminism, and a white knight because that term is popular around here and you have to follow the herd, perhaps I should call you out for what can *actually* be read in your posts: not sufficiently educated and lacking the mental capacity to distinguish simple terms.
Now, I will not repeat the distinction again since you were not capable of comprehending it the first time and I have no reason to believe your brain will suddenly see the actual point, so I won't bother.
I will instead kindly ask you to refrain from putting words into my mouth. Now I see it's easier to argue with me if you feel you've got the backing of the "herd" ("we BSNers"), but I did not refer to the entirety of BSN or even its majority a single time. Your apparent deficiencies are entirely your own. Just as is the childish 'defiance' in using the term 'sexbot' just to counter the 'white knights'. That fact alone is enough to amuse me.

Call me whatever you want. The implications of this are not 'the slightest thing' to me, perhaps they are to you, or you do not think them relevant here. I do. I am perfectly aware that the usage of the term sexbot is not serious to most, and that it's become a running joke. Completely ignoring the implications of the term, which I think is sad and demeaning in itself. You can dismiss it as being non-serious if you want. I think the fact the everyone runs with it is speaking for itself. I don't find it funny in the slightest.
I can say this again in ten different ways but I'm not trying to win an argument here, I'm stating my opinion.
