I seem to be using the terms Sexbot and EDIbot interchangeably. Some people seem to think that's not PC. I encourage those people not to worry about it.

I think the term 'sexbot' is less juvenile and more of poking fun at her ridiculous proportions. even to this day I find the design of EDI really off-putting.

I find her design off-putting too, but still not a fan of the sexbot moniker, you know people are calling her that because she is a robot with a female apperance and most people on the BSN have very juvenile attitudes about everything sex-related.

It's kind of obvious that the model was originally (from this side of the forth wall) made to naturally appeal to Joker's character, for EDI loves him. She would naturally want to attempt to tittilate the object of her affections as she tries to understand how to get him to genuinely love her back.

If it was a robot purpose-built for people to have sex with, sure, it'd be a sexbot. But it's not. It's a robot in the shape of an attractive lady. It's there to infiltrate, and to kill reapers. Which it does. A lot. The leap from "attractive lady" to "it exists to have willies in it" is both huge and kind of rapey.

It's sexualised, and designed to draw male gaze, (which is a useful design feature if you're an infiltrator) but sexualised and promiscuous are a million miles apart.

Just try to catch some reference and understand what "sexbot" means.

It was called like that since it appeared in the screenshot. "Sexbot" is a stereotype, it is not a character. It is a concept. It is the idea that when desperate, just add a robot (object) with female atributes so young boys can feel their hormones working hard.

It is an "easy trump", like choppers in movies, explosions in movies, or even... exploding choppers in movies.

If you think calling this "thing" "sexbot" is just litteral, consider the culture you are in : gamers, sci-fy, Roleplay games.

"Sexbot" is actually a denouncing term. Nothing more.

Just... think a little, please.

It doesn't help that they didn't give it any clothes...it essentially looks naked.

It was designed after EDI, whose default appearance is naked. This is made more obvious by the option to put clothes on her.
