Not sure why elys thinks it has to be that complicated... It is no more "hardcoded" into the executable than the way the characters look (which I'm sure you know is quite modable). If you don't want to worry about bag space get yourself the Toolset, load your save .das file, go to SAVEGAME_PARTYLIST then SAVEGAME_MAX_ITEMS and modify the bag limit. You're good to go with no worries (it is that simple honestly).elys wrote...
It's just not released because I'm not sure it falls into the modding definition of the forums.
The 125 limit is hardcoded into the engine, so you have to modify the Dragon Age executable to go over the limit.
There is various way to do so.
For the average user the easiest and direct method is to modify daorigins.exe with an hexadecimal file editor (such as HexWorkshop and alike)
If you don't know what the line above mean, don't bother to read the following.
Else read the warning below before proceeding.
IF YOU MODIFY DAORIGINS.EXE:
- MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL VERSION !!!
- A FUTURE PATCH WILL MOSTLY FAIL TO INSTALL IF YOU DO NOT RESTORE THE ORIGINAL FILE BEFORE PATCHING
- DO NOT CONTACT BIOWARE/EA TECHNICAL SUPPORT WHEN USING A MODDED EXECUTABLE.
- **** THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE IS ONLY FOR RETAIL VERSION 1.02A ****
Now to get the job done:
- Open the Program Files/Dragon Age/bin_ship/daorigins.exe with the hexadecimal file editor
- Go at the file offset 0x262960 ( 2500960 )
- Replace 83 F9 with EB 03
- Save and Enjoy a 999 max inventory size (capped by 2DA setting)
I personally (as a pack rat myself) have 777 inventory spots.Mind you I don't need anywhere near that much but it is nice to have just in case. Magic works wonders btw. If you can have a spell that helps you run faster, then you sure as heck could have a spell that makes it so everything you pick up weighs next to nothing.
That's not working for me.
