I was horribly disappointed the moment the livestream revealed that it was kit focused on some crossbow gimmick, looking more like a soldier or infiltrator setup than an engineer.
This is an awful way to finish the engineer class with the final DLC. I wish I could begin to understand why we got something that nobody wanted instead of what everyone was asking for.
My small pile of play-once-then-forget-it-exists kits grows by one, even if it gets buffed.
What a shame.
Talon Mercenary - We wanted a real Engineer turret-dropper or LOKI mech deployer, not this.

That's your opinion. I agree it doesnt feel very engineerish, but the trip mines are indeed fantastic and sort of engineer-centric. The bow can be specced for electrical or cryo damage for comboing, so again its still sort of engineer based..I think the problem is more his image, and the fact that the powers are deployed via an omni-bow rather than other methods.
I would have liked to see a new salarian perhaps, but I really enjoy playing this class - it may not be your cup of tea, but its original - the powers and character model are unique, It matters not which category it is situated in - many characters cross over with traits inherent with other categories - it doesnt affect how you play. I get what you mean though - a nice techy character might have been nice, but the infiltration unit and geth superplatform thingy both have decent tech aspects to their loadouts, and are arguably better engineers.

The Arrows are a useless gimmick.
This character is as good on Level 16 as he is on Level 20.

I love the idea of a bow, it's just terrible the way it is (though honestly I haven't used it, just specced it)

I like the style of the character.
His bow just doesn't do enough damage.
and the rebinding thing.

Yeah, everything you said is pretty accurate.
If the Talon merc had instead been a Salarian who deployed a LOKI mech instead of a crossbow, and you used grenades to make the mech shoot armor piercing or concussive rounds, now that would have been truly amazing. I wouldn't have even cared if it was Salarian or not, personally, but that sure would have made everyone else happy.
As it stands, utterly stale on arrival, and out of place as an engineer.

Makes for a better soldier. But making the juggernaut engineer...It's basically a bigger gethgineer. :|

It still throws me off hearing the devastator's voice instead of Zaeed's.
Setting up trip mines near enemy spawns and watching the meat confetti is pretty amusing.
The concussive bow seems built to stagger phantoms but as a whole I like armor piercing arrows more. His passive is cool as he regenerates more arrows, c4 but it's pointless.
The arrows are in need of a buff. They take too long to aim and the non power up versions seem underpowered.
But it's pretty fun to put a Batarian Gauntlet on this character only to realize you can't use your bow....
Oh the hilarity.

I can't help but think someone mixed up the Edibot and the Talon when assigning them to classes. Imagine if Edibot was an engineer, and the Talon was an infiltrator. Edibot would have snapfreeze, repair matrix, and some 3rd minor tech power, and the Talon would have tac cloak with a power bonus evolution, armor piercing arrows, and the trip mines.
Suddenly, instead of a stupidly OP class and a worrisomely weak class, we'd have two good classes. Hmmmmmmm...

Even though the main thing i'm distraught about is getting a trash kit instead of a big turret or LOKI mech deployer, along with losing the chance to ever see such a thing, what you've stated is something I still would have been happy with.
It really makes sense, and a crossbow gimmick would seem a lot less out of place on an infiltrator, IMO.

I'm sorry but how much did you pay for the DLC?
Not sure if the problem is the kit or the player.

played him some rounds. the bow itself isnt as nice as i thought before.
the mines are cool as hell. best mines in game.
would it be combined with a turret like cerb engee and a pylon this class would be perfekt... but the bow... cant pay for itself

Not very Engineer'ish', but a fun character to play none the less. One complaint would be though, BOW NEEDS A DAMAGE BUFF! The entire build of this guy revolves around his 'heavy melee bow,' which is "meh" at best. The trip mines make this character decent to play, but the bow needs to be buffed a bit to make him a worth-while addition. I was doing 'ok' on silver with this char, wouldn't even attempt gold or plat with that weak-bow.

I actually rather like playing as the talon merc. I will say that he doesn't fit in the engineer class.
I played with him a lot today and ended up being top of the chart most of the time - even with a Krogan Warlord and a Geth Juggernaut on the team also. The trip mines are awesome, but his two other powers are kind of weird. I sometimes will use the armor piercing arrows, but rarely, if ever, use the other arrows. The one nice thing about all his powers being essentially "grenades" is that you don't have to worry about having too much weight on him, so I put the Black Widow on him and go to town with that and his omni-bow. I also equip a Talon just in case of objectives where I have to be up and personal with enemies.
