Was just reading The Calling and just realized how terribly sad both books really are and thought I would start a forum for us all to vent our sad thoughts as a form of therapy (or something).  So here are my most tearful moments from the books and DA Origins:

The Stolen Throne: I broke down in disbelief when Maric killed Katriel.  I really was utterly devastated and it made me completely hate Loghain so much that I have no problem with letting Alistair lop off the guy's head at the Landsmeet.  I mean I know that in a way it had to be done for Maric to become hardened, but still he ended up marrying a woman he didn't truly love (not in that way at least) and he just ended up being very sad.

The Calling: Now I'm only mostly finished with The Calling.  I have a few chapters left to go so I may rethink my saddest moment after I have completely finished it, but the part where Julien dies and then where Nicolas decides to stay in the Fade with Julien and die instead of joining the others left me crying like a baby.  In fact I had to put the book down I was bawling so much.

DA Origins: Well, I've never played it where there is a sacrifice at the end with the Archdemon, otherwise I'm sure I would have cried my eyes out over that, and killing Loghain after the whole Katriel thing actually left me feeling somewhat satisfied, so I guess it would be where Leliana sings her song at camp.  That may not be the saddest moment in the game but it still left me feeling tearful the way everyone (except Morrigan) seems to be so sad and reflecting on their lives and decisions they have made.

Gawd, I cry way too easily. I need a tissue. Image IPB

Damn, David Gaider and his talent to make girls cry. Image IPBImage IPB

Anyway, please share your saddest moments from the books and DA Origins.

Yes, I can unequivocably say that was the hardest scene I've ever had to write. It did not come easy.
