I don't cry. I just don't. When everyone around me is sitting there bawling their eyes out in a sad movie, I'm the one sitting there awkwardly just waiting for it all to be over.
But THIS part
THIS damn part of the book
Actually made me tear up a little.
It was so sad...
I wish I coulda scooped 'em all up and hugged their problems away
Me too!!!! Wahhhhhhh!*grabs tissue box* The fade part of The Calling was the most heartwrenching thing I've read in a long time. *sniff* Here have a tissue......*hands tissue to bunnie.riane* I wanted to give them a hug too. In fact, I feel bad for saying this, but in a way I felt bad they had to leave. They all seemed so much happier in the fade.....even if it wasn't real.
The fade in the game wasn't nearly as heartbreaking..........well, there was Niall. Oh, poor Niall. Now I need more tissues.
-gladly accepts tissues-
I knowwww exactly what you mean! I mean, really, what could possibly be a more heartbreaking situation than being put in your absolute most perfect fantasy, only to realize it was a dream and you had to leave and go back to the not-so-great real world or be killed?
Seriously wtf that's just wrong
The in-game Fade was not nearly as sad as the book. I know since it's a book, there's more room for detail, but they could have made the game a little more sad...
But in a way I'm glad they didn't. I wouldn't want to be crying all over my computer like I was my book.
EDIT:
I would pay for a Niall and Cullen romance
Cullen's so cute with his bashfulness.
The part where he actually RUNS from the PC kills me everytime.

2. The roll-up note in Redcliffe Castle basement.
3. Niall. I just felt so bad for him.
4. Loghain's second dialog with

Hahaa, yeah that's the truth.
Remember the:
"You'll get to see a sword up close real soon"
line?
Yeah, David's got a sick sense of humor.
That one actually made me laugh though

Yes, I can unequivocably say that was the hardest scene I've ever had to write. It did not come easy.amethyst_rose2009 wrote...
The Calling: Now I'm only mostly finished with The Calling. I have a few chapters left to go so I may rethink my saddest moment after I have completely finished it, but the part where Julien dies and then where Nicolas decides to stay in the Fade with Julien and die instead of joining the others left me crying like a baby. In fact I had to put the book down I was bawling so much.

I'd have to agree about the Fade dream with Julien and Nicolas. I think that for anyone who's loved letting go is hard and sometimes you just can't do it. It is what makes us all human.

It was very poignant, probably the most heartwrenching thing I've read, but I understand why you wrote the fade part the way you did for Nicolas. After Julien died it really was the only way it could have ended for Nicolas. And as Maric points out as the party starts to walk away, at least that dream didn't have to end.

I'll have to do a more thorough search on my next playthrough.

I believe it is a V for Vendetta reference - it talks about how they came and demanded he submit, and he refused and now he's going to die in the jail when all he had to do was say some meaningless words - then it says if you go to Rainsferre his family will be there. It was more touching than that, but I don't remember it word for word.

I agree so much! I was crying SO hard... I showed it to my (gay) friend and he was crying like a baby too. For one thing, I love how real a gay romance is for once, most of them come off as.... Not real. Julien and Nicolas however.....
I think I'm crying again.

Is there anything you can do with it? Tell his family or anything? And is it in a chest or something or in one of those cells near where Jowan is?

I know, that's what was so sweet about it. That it just felt so real. And I could tell right away how much they cared about each other. It's funny when they are all standing in the cabin and Nicolas gives Julien a kiss, Maric gets embarassed because he didn't know they had that kind of relationship and I was thinking "Isn't that just like Maric to not notice something so obvious?" For a brief moment I kind of snickered because of that and then I went right back to crying my eyes out again.

Ohh I know, that part made me smile for a minute
It was cute how he was so oblivious to what was going on with them.
But maybe it's a guy thing?
I mean, how many times have we heard of guys being "tricked" by Zevran's massage?

Maric is still innocent in some ways and it's an endearing trait for him. When I read that part I was like no wonder Alistair is like that despite not being around his father.
Yeah, I can definitely see Maric's naivety and goofiness in Alistair. I could even see Alistair reacting exactly the same way in that scene.

LOL! I can see it now
Zevran: You know I got this two for one special on massages going on. I could help release some of that tension you have.
