Dragon Age: Origins -

This is easily the most emotional scene I recall. If you're playing a female PC ----- when you get really high approval with Morrigan, she starts to fall apart at one particular occurrence of dialog - saying something about how much she values your friendship and that she feels she doesn't deserve it. She's so cold and collected throughout the whole game, but she comes so completely unglued during this scene and you can hear it in her voice that she's struggling to fight back the tears.

ALSO:

I love the scene at the landsmeet with Loghain. The outrage he displays was magnificent. "I was the one fighting the Orlesians while they crush your lands and raped your wives! I was the one that bled for Ferelden! How DARE you judge me?!" Simon Templeman's performance was remarkable.

I agree, that part got to me too.  I didn't really care for her too much during the rest of the game because she seemed to dislike my goody-two-shoes choices and of course was always insulting the other party members, but I had her approval maxed due to her personal quest and other gifts and there at the end when she broke down saying I was the only friend she ever had, I just burst into tears.  They did an excellent job there, complete character change from a hardened selfish b*tch to someone you realize you could have been good friends with had she let down her whole ice-queen facade.

If you sacraficed yourself at the end of the game and have 100% friendship with Oghren you get a special epilogue which really got me... i just did it on Sunday with my friend watching and it was hard for me not to look all weepy.

I wish the publishing world would just have a standard "universal" license where anyone from anywhere in the world can buy any book available especially if they are available online as Ebooks. *sad camper*
And yes, I have never got the chance to read the ME books either unless I order them in and pay silly shipping charges which can cost as much or more then books themselves.

That's a shame, really.  I truly feel for you.  I thought both books were very good (and heart-wrenching Image IPB) and helped with the overall feeling of the DA world when I play the game as it provides background details for people you meet in the game and it gives it more meaning, imo.  I hope the books will be available where you live soon.  I haven't read the ME books yet either, though I think I'll read the Witcher books first.  I've heard they're really good as well.

Zevran gets to me every time. Every. Time. Even when I'm just trying to be friends with the marvelously tragic bastard. Backstory, parting words at the gates to the city, and his epilogue if the PC sacrifices him/herself while romancing him rips my heart out and bats it around like a cat with a bottlecap.

Damn, I love this writing team...

I've only done one playthrough but-

-The ending of the Werewolf questline when the werewolves say goodbye to the Lady, and both Zathrian and the Lady stand there looking at each other as they die. That moved me.

- the orphanage in the Alienage. My playthrough was with a city elf rogue, and I ended caring so much about the alienage (and dying to get back in during the early/mid game) that when I was finally able to and hearing all the horrible things that happened...it was all portrayed so well during the orphanage. I was truly shocked when the blind templar was run-through, I really liked him. I somewhat expected it to happen, but even then it caught me off-guard.

- Most of the cutscenes in the final battle. When everybody is charging the gates, the goodbyes from the party members, Alistairs speech. Everything. I loved the final battle. Recent rpg's have let me down ending-wise, Dragon Age definitely saved the best for last, truly a great ending.

When Tamlen comes back as a shriek, and says, "Don't... want to hurt you... Leth'alla..."

When he said "Leth'alla" i just started bawling :( Tamlen was one of my favorite characters.

the scene with Tamlen makes me want to cry everytime, especially since my character believe the whole time tamlem was still out there, until the scene at the gauntlet when he says i'll never see him again after that i gave up hope, but than he appeared at camp and my character was forced to kill him, it was so heart breaking.

I also found the scene when morrigan tells you how much your friendship means to her to be on of the saddest. If you leave Leiliana at the gate durning the final battle and have high approval she also give a tear jerking speech.

To those others who got weepy at the shriek Tamlen scene at camp, if your character is a female Dalish, does he always say that he always loved her, or is that only if you mentioned something to him in earlier dialogues? Was curious about that, because that made me full-on weep when he said it to my Dalish lady.

After reading the calling, I'm finding the part where Daveth dies increasingly tragic.  Obviously, Duncan saw a younger version of himself in Daveth and probably wanted to get Daveth off the streets and help him become something better as Genevieve had once done for Duncan (though in different circumstances).  Even Alistair curiously asks why Duncan conscripted the cutpurse (as he called Daveth) not aware that Duncan had once been a cutpurse himself.  No one else would have taken a chance on Duncan when he was younger, glad to just let him rot in jail, and I think he just wanted to do the same for Daveth. In the scene where Daveth dies from drinking the darkspawn blood, Duncan just looked really sad.  After all, in the fade, that's what Genevieve had said she hoped would happen to Duncan (though she might not have fully meant it since she was confused in the fade).  I just feel after reading the book that that scene was a lot more poignant to Duncan than we first realized.  And I think it brought back a lot of sad memories for him.

When Sten first calls your pc "friend" (Kalan or something like that) it brought a tear to my eye since it is just so difficult to get Sten to trust you and be your friend.

And also if you happen to be in a romance with Zevran and Alistair and you choose Alistair, the look on Zevran's face when you break up with him is just so heartbreaking.  Image IPB

Oh god, the game and books were relentless in sticking lumps in my throat: s'why I like them so much. Sure, fancypants literary critics would be snooty and turn their noses up but **** them. If something affects me, it's good.

I'm far too lazy to write down every moment, but Morrigan's farewell at the gate to a romanced PC who thanks her for everything she's done is just heartbreaking:

"There is far more I might have done for you had this been another time and we been different people. Allow me to say only one thing before we go: I was foolish. This could have been so much easier. Yet I cannot regret what was between us. I will always remember you, my love. Now, let us see this finally done. The archdemon awaits."

The "ring" epilogue was inspired, too. Just the right note of melancholy. (I think all the epilogues intended to be "poignant" succeeded, mind you)

Awww, Morrigan's farewell sounds so sweet.  I've never romanced Morrigan so I've never gotten that one, only the best friend one which in itself is really good too.

And I agree about the books.  I'm not sure what the critics thought of them, and I honestly I don't care.  I rarely agree with critics' views anyway.  I think that if a book is able to bring out so many emotions the way The Stolen Throne and The Calling both did, then the book must be pretty darn good.  Not many books I've read have made me cry the way these two books have.

Alistair's eulogy for the Human Noble female to whom he was supposed to be married (have to leave him at the gates for it). Pretty much lost it over that one.

Ooo, I need to see this one. Unfortunately, the only characters I'm running right now are a City Elf  and a Noble Dwarf. I may have to go back to my Noble Human and redo her from an earlier save just to see.

It's sad. :crying:  Not because of what's said, but because of what's implied. Again, <3 the voice acting.

Agree with Freckles04 - the voice acting is perfect. This character had high approval with Sten and Oghren, and so not only did I get the great voice-acted eulogy, I got Sten reporting to the Arishok that he met "one" warrior worthy of Par Vollen and Oghren naming his daughter after me. The cumulative effect of so many touching endings made me glad my wife wasn't there to see me cry like a little girl (ok, that's a slight exaggeration). It's definitely my favorite ending.

I just watched it on Youtube:

I bawled my eyes out watching it.  I don't think I will ever do the sacrifice ending though myself.  I just don't have the heart for it.  I would be crying for a week. Image IPB

I haven't read the books, but as far as the game:

Oh god Oh god. The Gauntlet got me, hands down. (The City Elf origin is just so incredibly heartbreaking.) So out of the blue, so exposed, I cried for my character. :crying:

And the ending- so frustrating. I'd planned to sacrifice my character, but unknowingly brought Alistair along. Watching him run at the Archdemon while my character watched helplessly was so cruel. I'd prepared myself emotionally for her to die, so I was completely caught off-guard and felt as traumatized as my character would have when he died instead. *sigh* And yet now I would have it no other way for that character- thank you Bioware writers for being able to surprise and disappoint and frustrate me that much and still have me be completely satisfied with the ending.

Now I just need to see this Ultimate Sacrifice Zevran ending... it sounds so sad. :(

1. When Alistair kisses the PC for the first time.

2. The look an Alistair's face when you tell him to bed Morrigan.

I think I have some few more, but at this time I can't remember them.

The game has brought up a lot of emotions. Anger, shock, loving, sadness, happiness, hate, and many more. All those could be tearful moments, (some gets tears in their eyes if they are very angry)

When Calling ended, I was sad! That was the first good book I've read since Dante Club by Matthew Pearl.

Awkward Alisatir romance moments

The cutscene of Cailan's death and Duncan's

When you retrieve Felmeth's Grimoire for Morrigan, and give her the Golden Hand Mirror, and the friendship speech at the battle's end.

When Sten gets Asala back (what can I say? I'm a softie!)

The end/end

When Loghain accepts his death, cpmpares the PC's strength to Maric's, and says, "Hush Anora, it's over" and "Daughter's don't grow up . . ." that was a sweet Daddy moment, even coming from a misguided man :(

If you have to break up with Leliana because you accidentally romance her :(

The Human Noble and City Elf Origin scenes (Shianni and the death.good-bye)

There's plenty more, but that's all I can think of, atm

Most tearful moment for me? When I romanced Leliana and I sacrifice my self to kill the Archdemon and I read the epilogue where Leliana poured her heart out in an epic song about me and then one day decides to end her life (yes I believe she committed suicide) to join me in heaven. I was a shocked because for some reason I never really believe she was into me THAT much given her seductress past.

Leliana's song was really meaningful for my Dalish character, too. For one thing, it was one of the few times her companions showed any awareness of her culture as being special and of value. (The other time being when Alistair calls the Dalish funeral custom beautiful.) That both touched her and made her proud.

I have played the Dalish origin and don't remember either of these.:unsure:Could it be because I took Morrigan's offer and didn't do the Ultimate Sacrifice, or did I just miss them?

I felt really bad for Zevran when he finally told me about his last mission before trying to kill me.  It broke my heart.

If I remember correctly, Alistair says the part about the Dalish funeral when you are at Flemeth's hut right after she rescues you from Ostagar.  He talks about Duncan dying and then that comes up about the funeral if I'm not mistaken.

Leliana will sing a song at camp if you have her approval level high enough and I think you also have to do her personal quest first.
