I think the technology of the Homeworld space RTS could be put to use VERY WELL in a Mass Effect space RPRTS.
It also adds some variation to the RTS wallet for Bioware, it should fit pretty comfy next to that other classic RTS you have: Command & Conquer.

Yes, that would mean Bioware then owns 2 space-RTS-es. But the Mass Effect one would be the one with a strong emphasize on an RP component, while the Homeworld one would lean more to the hardcore space RTS side, though still with some background and story content.

Do it! You know the thought crossed your minds a few times already!

Even if BioWare doesn't take the reins, Homeworld would be a very lucrative franchise to pick up for other developers. It seems the demand is strong for THQ, as well:

THQ says it has already received over “100 expressions of interest” regarding “various titles” still left in its vaults.

They dont really need to buy it to do a space RTS, they have a good space IP already and some background experience from ToR mini game. They can just make a game about Turian vs Human wars.
And i actually want to see SEGA/Creative Assembly to buy it, you know someone with some strategy experience.

Hoping someone picks up Darksiders and Red Faction.

Darksiders has good promise and started out as a nice alternative in the Zelda style game.

Red Faction is more interesting, had a great start being one of the first (if not THE first) games with completely destrucible environments giving plenty of exploration options and chances to discover new areas.  Unfortunately it never really found a stable audience as each proceding game was drastically different from the previous one.  Guerilla being a more open world 3rd GTA style game with mission objectives and resource collection and Armageddon going to a more linear stlye approach akin to Dead Space but not really doing it right.
