For this game to be sucessful it needs to be built and designed to utilize the power of our gaming PC's, not end up designed for consoles, next gen or not, and then the pc users get some crappy port where you can't even use keybinding, among other travesties.   (ala dungeon siege 3)

This type of game (especially the 3rd installment) needs to be built on pc's period, and ported to consoles.  Did I say that?  Those of us who have spent thousands of dollars on our gaming rigs deserve the best that the frostbite 2 engine can offer, not a dumbed down console port.

agree?  disagree?

It's a console game first and foremost because games like Origins and DA2 ended up selling more copies on consoles. The days of Bioware making PC games and then porting them down to consoles are over.

EA doesn't "build for PC first".

They're not going to say that anything was designed for one platform and then ported because that would hurt the sales on the other stuff. If the game is in fact intended for next-gen consoles then I'd guess this will be less of an issue.

I don't really care too much as long as the PC interface is up to scratch, which can be done with a port.

Don't particularly care, but if they do that, at least make a good console port. The console version of DA:O has severe problems.

Really? All the Crysis games were PC first and ported down to consoles after the fact. It doesn't hurt sales. Console gamers don't give a **** if it's a port. They're console gamers playing on hardware from 2005. Quality graphics aren't exactly a priority.

Really? And here I thought the most important thing for DA:I would be strong writing, likable characters, and a mixture of gameplay between DAO and DA2.

But nope, you want the shiny graphics over everything.

How about trying to make sure everybody has a good experience, with UIs that fit their respective input devices?

Why some people feel their platform is so special and needs to be better at the expense of the experience of those on other platforms, I'll never understand. I need to swap discs all the time in ME3, do I begrudge those on PS3 and PC who don't need to do so? Not at all.

AFAIK, sales are more or less evenly distributed. For some reason press compares PC sales to the sum of console sales. So no wonder they seem to have the advantage. But for Sony and Microsoft, it´s obviously not the same.

Also AFAIK, the norm is doing a game in the weakest system (XBX 360) and porting to the other 2. So I´m afraid we are out of luck.

Not so much graphics - but developing for the PC with an inventory system and control method that isn't flopped over from gamepads.

Even simple things like a transparent screen when swappng armour and weapons is a nice touch.

We are largely just experiencing "separation anxiety" right now. When the Xbox 360 was first released it was relatively on par with the majority of PCs at the time. However, as time goes on and PCs double in power every 18 months while the 360 is still stuck on 2005 technology, the gap becomes huge.

I don't know what the next gen consoles are going to have for specs, and I kind of fear that they won't match up to todays PCs. Unfortunately, PC gamers are going to have to live with the fact that games are created for the least common denominator with the largest sales pool.

There is a bit of hope though. With the advance in digital distribution and online verification over time, PC sales are starting to become a more profitable market than they were previously. Since the console market also has a huge rental and after-market sales that don't benefit developers, they will start turning more attention the PC again.

So unless the next gen consoles have some sort of system to eliminate or reduce the re-selling of games, I think in 5-10 years you will see some developers start developing primarily for the PC again.

@Navasha - Xbox will not support second hand games - and PS4 has backed off of it - but maybe not forever.

In addition to being an awesome game, a good/adequate port is all it needs to be successful, irrespective of which platform it is designed initially. So, I diasgree.

Sadly this won't happen even though DAO was far superior on the pc, DA2 was nothing but a crappy console port. So were ME2 and 3 though 3 was worse with binding 2 dozen functions to the spacebar.

I'm not asking for DA:I to be made specifically for pc but port it properly this time...

All I will say is that I expect Bioware to make a game that runs smoothly without glitches for all platforms. This is very important to me.

They always have. Take a look at the minimum specs for PC games sometime.

A Dev...hmm Blair maybe? Not too long ago said DA sold about the same across all platforms.
Those places that track sales never did track PC digital sales which is huge and a fast growing segment of buyers.
Anyways...
If the game works well on each platform with its strengths in mind then there should be no problem.

Even if the PC, with the digital sales, matched up the 360's sales (which I doubt it regardless, since the difference in the sales is too high, in my opinion), the 360 version of both games sold a lot more copies than the PS3 version. As far as I know the same goes for the ME IP. It could be (surely for the ME IP, don't know about the DA IP) because Bioware made more games for Xbox and 360 than the Sony's console. DAO was the first game made by Bioware released on a Sony Console (don't know when SC was released, but I'd prefer to not count it). KOTOR, JE and ME were already released on MS consoles.
With my post I don't mean that Bioware should make the game first on 360 and then on other platforms (which was the modus operandi in this gen, at least by the majority of developers). I'm merely stating that the 360 generally made more sales than the two other platforms in the case of Bioware's games.
