I think people are severely underestimating the Talon.

Also 170k in a pretty good team is subjective, what is a pretty good team to one may not be to another, personally I can't see it happening at this point.

Every time you set a fourth mine the first will detonate without something having to trip the laser. The Cain mine is like a recon mine that you can spam ridiculously fast. Towards the end of waves I was usually ignoring the last few enemies to get my mines set up on a spawn and reposition to force the spawn there. We got three killstreaks in a game on Cain mines alone. They are also powerful enough to break a banshee's grip if spammed fast.
I ran 6s in everything but fitness and concussive arrows which I took up to four. Mainly to get extra grenades. Carry a pistol or SMG with the tech power upgrade mod and equip grenade gear with Power Amp IV.

Would love to see a video of this, haven't tried him yet, he is getting kicked from random lobbies, only know what I have read here and it seems something is very wrong. I also base that assumption on reading remarks from experienced players and friends who have tried him.

I was playing with Major last night and he said that the Talon was really great with properly spec'd trip mines, a big weapon, and no cross-bow usage.

Yep. I got booted from two Silver matches last night from running this guy.
I can't say I would've proven them wrong, exactly, but I didn't ever bottom out the list, either.

Yea, I am only reflecting on the experience of others, I will give him a go probably tomorrow, tonight I want to see how the edi bot performs in platinum. Having said that though it seems strange we would have a power that just about everyone I have talked to is saying it is lackluster.
Edit: Forgot to add also, I thought what made him special was the bow, the trip mines sound good as a debuff but I didn't see him as a weapon based kit.

The bow use is very limited but it is decent as a debuff for armor. Not that much of a thing as you take the enemy down fairly quick without the debuff with weapons fire and the nade is probably better spent on a cain mine.UKStory135 wrote...

Game 1: Rage-quit after wave 5. The Omni-bow is awful off-host.
Game 2: This time I was the host. After clutching 4 waves, I ran out of medi-gel after finishing the wave 10 objective (alone, surprise). Still got around 160k, so it wasn't bad. But I can't see an Omni-bow-centered build working well above Gold.

How did you spec the mine?

The first two times I used him I tried to center on the bow and after almost throwing the controller through the screen I went nutts and started spamming the cains. The arrow upgrades are more about maximizing nades. I still use the AP arrows if a big spawn of armored targets is ahead of me.kaxas92 wrote...

It's mainly about the Cain mines. The bow has utility but sucks for DPS. Once you learn how to use those Cain mines, he is ridiculously OP. You can set three of them which are like recon mines that you do not have to monitor. The AP arrows are ok for debuffing armor but suck at actual damage.

I had a feeling that the REALLY successfull players would focus on the mines. I salute you sir. This is appears to be a more solid build than using the arrows.

This character has no power cooldowns to worry about. Claymore and Typhoon is you're feeling crazy. I went with Claymore and Scorpion to keep Aboms and Swarms off me. (My aim is still kinda crap with the Claymore, for which I entirely blame the Xbox controller and not my own lack of skill)
Had around 90k with him in a Silver game by the time I was done tinkering with him.
This isn't *the* way to play him, obviously. But it worked out for me. Will try this out in Gold tonight probably.
One thing to note: For those who haven't tried him yet. Place your Cain mines carefully. If you place them too low, Praetorians were floating right over them for me last night. And, as with Recon Mine, they take 3 seconds to arm.

Try to get to the enemies when they are grouped and spam the hell out of the mine. Your teammates don't have time to kill even if they are Disciple888 unless they use a Cobra.

CD doesn't matter that much but it does effect your grenade regeneration. Geth and Cerbs are easily dealt with if using the Merc, Collectors can suck, swarms and abominations trip the mines which kill them but don't mean chit for the wave budget, Reapers are pretty easy but Banshees biotic jump through the lasers without tripping them.GrimShepherd wrote...
Took me a couple (Silver) matches last night, but think I did well enough with him. My opinion is that even with as much bow damage as you can muster, the Omni-bow won't be a major damage threat. It does, however, have some nice debuffs in the Concussive and Armor-Piercing trees. Use them to complement Cain Mines which are amazing and the heaviest weapons you can handle.
