I think people are severely underestimating the Talon.

I use a black widow and harrier on him and play him mainly as a weapon class.

Would love to see a video of this, haven't tried him yet, he is getting kicked from random lobbies, only know what I have read here and it seems something is very wrong. I also base that assumption on reading remarks from experienced players and friends who have tried him.
Also 170k in a pretty good team is subjective, what is a pretty good team to one may not be to another, personally I can't see it happening at this point.
I was playing with Major last night and he said that the Talon was really great with properly spec'd trip mines, a big weapon, and no cross-bow usage.
Yea, I am only reflecting on the experience of others, I will give him a go probably tomorrow, tonight I want to see how the edi bot performs in platinum. Having said that though it seems strange we would have a power that just about everyone I have talked to is saying it is lackluster.
Edit: Forgot to add also, I thought what made him special was the bow, the trip mines sound good as a debuff but I didn't see him as a weapon based kit.
The only time I played him, I used a bow build. It was the least fun I have ever had while playing a shooter. If he was the first player I had ever picked up, I would have sold this game, so I haven't pick him up since.

The Concussive arrows still work at level four for stunning but are generally a waste of a nade. I could see equipping one if doing a device for "OH chit" stunning if a phantom rounded the corner as you finished the device.VirtualAlex wrote...
I am getting the hang of him. I just specced him for max shields/health as I kinda gave up on bow as an actual damage tool. Agreed with the armor debuffer, except I specced my concusive arrows to 6 and armor arrows to 3. The concussive arrow really sends people flying, despite not being able to kill a trooper in one shot... At least it can "stagger" the hell out of a phantom, and by stagger, I mean blast her 80 feet into the air.
I use a black widow and harrier on him and play him mainly as a weapon class.

Once they fix his glitches it would be nice to get a bow buff though as I'm not sure I'd be so happy to play him on Gold atm. But I was doing decent dmg with the AP arrows for what it's worth, and didn't get any issues with it not firing etc. Maybe it's something that's worse when using a controller?
EDIT - Also, I ran him with the executioner pistol with a sight on it. The bow stagger can set them up for a 1 shot kill

Also, he is not able to grab?
What weapon works best on him to max grenade generation? Maybe wraith?

We can't aim the bow with him on Xbox. The button you have to hold for it is in the same hand as the stick you use to move your aim. It still locks on, which is cool, but it's not exactly adding to the bow's list of strengths.Calgac wrote...
There seems to be a lot of xboxers hating on this kit, perhaps it's something to do with that as I quite liked it on silver and scored top in my second game, even WITHOUT my keybinds or op packs which had disappeared.
I do like the sound of using the arrows for debuffs and effects, though. That sounds cool. The developers have spent ages with the Talon, and a few of them are quite taken by him. We've spent a day, and a few of us aren't. Bugs aside, I'm sure there must be something we're missing.

I can play him and kind of get it.
hammer those melee stats and he can get by - ifthe target is in cover the bow can peg them with light melee, but heavy melee will hit the cover because it 'locks on' . I think they could do a lot for this character making the bolts work like a warp instead. The cain mines are great, you have to admit, and nobody at bioware said that every new character can be played without any weapons. think of it this way, you can melee someone from across the map and that's unique.

I didn't have a lot of trouble with him until we hit Condor Collectors on UUG match. The swarms detonate the mines as do abominations. The units are different speeds so they don't cluster up as well either and the ammo boxes are trash. Add to that the terrain is so screwed up that it's hard to set the trip lasers effectively.inversevideo wrote...
Ok so what about skipping one of the arrow trees in favor of fitness? He seems to be made of tissue.

The fitness isn't that big an issue though to me. You're settting traps and avoiding direct confrontation in some instances and spamming Cains if the chit hits the fan or hitting a spawn before it seperates.
There is a short arming period on the mines if you set only three. You can get around that by spamming though if you're in immediate trouble.
Weapon wise I would go with a pistol or smg to get the extra mine damage from the power mod on those weapons. The harrier also worked well for me. I mentioned CD only to make it known that it effects Nade regeneration.

I think honestly BW could buff the arrows times ten and they would still be fairly meh. They suck now but even with a buff they would be completely lackluster to the Cain mines and take from the same nade pool.jasonxxsatanna wrote...
I do think one thing BW should have done was give him the incendiary and electric arrows, instead of the arrows he has now, I dont think he is able to tech burst / fire burst, with the 2 arrows I mention he could take down sheilds with electric arrows and do damage over time to armor and panic with incendiary arrows, as well as set off burst.

I played him for quite awhile today (7 matches on Gold, 4 on Silver).
The Gold matches were against Reapers with random maps (Glacier, White
Hazard, Hydra, Giant Hazard, Jade, Reactor Hazard, and the last match
being Dagger).
I tried out several different setup before finally
settling on the one I'm currently using. This character plays counter to
what you would think.
Do not think of the arrows as your damage
dealing ability, but instead think of them as a debuffing ability for
you to follow up with standard gunplay.
Use your Concussive Arrows to
do a spot of crowd control on weaker targets (they work fantastic even
on shielded targets, I was flinging Nemesis around quite a bit on Jade),
and Armor Piercing Arrows to debuff armored targets.
Make sure you
know the map you are on and have your Caine Trip Mines in critical choke
points, not just littered around all over the place hoping for kills or
camped out by your lonesome near the ammo boxes.
It is also
important to remember that you can only have three Trip Mines down at a
time--but you can force a detonation by placing another mine. They
detonate in a sequential order, starting with the first mine you
planted.
I personally was using the Hurricane IX as my weapon of
choice on him, with the Heat Sink and High Velocity Barrel. It worked
quite well.
I do think that this is not a character to play
offhost though. The Silvers I played were offhost and it was a bit of a
struggle compared to the Gold matches that I had hosted.
The other
problem with this character is that the Arrow powers use up Grenades at
too quick of a pace, even considering his regenerative capabilities
(which with the 6A Evolution for Elite Mercenary aren't too bad, but not
that great). Without the Grenade Capacity Evolutions it is a bit more
challenging, but what you get out of it in return is the Omni-Bow
Mastery tree maxxed to full and being considerably less squishy.
Oh! And the fact that he cannot apparently perform a Grab when in cover is just mindboggling.
The Talon is a very illogical character. Once you wrap your brain around it--and only play him while hosting, he's actually fairly enjoyable.

I do hope a dev catches this thread. I watched the 'live feed' demo, and it looks like they were 1 shotting enemies with the crossbow. I would love to know what level, what gear, and how they had him specced out to do that.
But it sounds, from what everyone is saying, that mines and any hard hitting weapon are the way to go with this guy.
I also hope that they can fix it so that he can do grabs.

I was off host most games and had a more difficult time playing him on host due to the phantom DR BS. I actually killed an Atlas with mine spam with a phantom flipping in front of him and she was still barely breathing. On host phantoms are tankier than Atlases.ntrisley wrote...

IDK about the bow. I tried it a few times with melee gear, power amps, all the melee options, and the heavy blade on a shotgun. The concussive arrows were entertaining but did lackluster damage as did the AP arrows. Even more frustratating is the damage was entirely inconsistent, doing different damage to enemies at times.inversevideo wrote...

I'm wondering if PC has a different feel on the arrows. I tried everything I could think of including different ammo powers to try and help them.
