I think people are severely underestimating the Talon.

I played him and hated it, like most of us have. I tried focusing on the mines but found them difficult to place in such a way as the enemy would trigger it. How do you make them work? I know there is a delay but my main problem is getting them in a straight horizontal line. Ugh they're so frustrating!

There is nothing to know about the guy other than his bow skills suck, focus on his mines and spec him for weapon damage, use said weapon to compliment you exploding advancing groups with your trip mines. He is a very tactical character, you have to be on your toes and anticipate where the enemy groups will be coming from, and you have to have a nice cain mine waiting for them.

I like this guy - the mines are - too much fun...

A good weapon choice and you dont have to skip anything. He is a great kit.

I get the feeling that skipping trip mines was a bad idea on my part.  Have yet to actually play him since I'm trying to master the Collector right now.

Sorry, but if a character has a specific melee attack that should be powerful enough to make weapons optional, and 2 skills that utilise that very melee, then I won't play him as a mine spammer.

No offense but if you focus on the arrows alone and don't use mines or weapons you will struggle on Bronze I imagine. Gold I can't even fanthom an arrow focus build being effective.

Translation: The Omni-Bow needs a major buff.

The mines are sick... I had them all over the main choke points in Goddess... was good. But everytime I tried to use the bow I was greatly disappointed.

Some maps are pretty easy to set them up on the wall others take a little more practice. I try to avoid plaing them on the floor unless I'm spamming them madly. Swarmers can trip them on the floor which is kind of a waste of damage. There a little like proxy mine though when you place the fourth mine the first will detonate regardless of whether it was tripped or not or even had time to arm.

You cannot grab with the character if you have a primed arrow either.

Yep other than a debuff to armor which I'm still undecided on whether it is a decent use since it consumes nades, doesn't always hit, and takes a little time to set up which could be spent shooting and limited utility knocking the ****** out of enemies with concussive arrows. It needs a Titanic sized buff or complete reworking to make it viable much less to make it useable over the mines which pull from the same pool.

No offense taken, but consider that they simultanously released a kit that can heavy melee his way to Gold/Plat victory (KroLord) without any weapons. This is a kit that has 2 powers enhancing his melee attacks as well (Biotic/Electrical Hammer), so there are some parallels.

I was planning to use the Talon frequently, but seeing that I'm left with one worthwhile skill which would be OP if the kit wasn't as bad and bugged as Talon is in the first place, then I don't feel interested at all.

I'll still give him a try, but the Heavy melee should get a huge buff, because with the animation it has and the shields/health I sacrificed for the bow damage, it really wouldn't be OP if I was able to kill a gold Centurion with fully charged heavy melee.

After the my first horrid match with him he's actually quickly becoming one of my favorites. Armor Arrows for debuffing bosses (+arrow count for adding more to the grenade pool) and cain trip mines for setting choke point traps.

The only way I can ever see that bow being viable in combat is if he had a massive melee buff.

His heavy melee shot takes half of assault trooper healthbar (with omniblade no other buffs) on gold. I suppose it could be better. Got plenty of kils with it, but then I realised that its better spend that time shooting. That mine and concussive arrows are very good (IMO) and his light melee which is very fast can stagger troops.

I completely agree the arrows need to be buffed.  The mines are pretty fun though, I wouldn't skip him. Watching a phantom jump up and turn to alpo is pretty entertaining. :D

I take charge-up weapons (tried Venom and Kishock) for him and use the heavy melee aimbot. Much fun.

Great idea, sort of like a double kishock - or perhaps this could work for detonating concussive arrows..

I used the omnibow and mines exclusively without touching any weapons and came top in a few silver matches - with all the melee upgrades I could get. I only used arrow powers mainly on bosses and saved my grenades for mines - though with the mines I mainly protected my back from phantoms or placed at enemy spawns. It one-shots mooks with a charged shot, so in that respect its like a single shot crusader with auto-aim.
